mannnnn I miss living near half price books. We have secondhand stuff near me too but they’re a poor replacement

 

Finally got around to watching It’s A Wonderful Knife and Anna and the Apocalypse over the past couple days and now I wanna keep going with Christmas horror comedies. Anyone have recs?

 

I can’t remember if it’s funny or not, but Better Watch Out is a good Christmas horror movie, if I remember right.

 

i think it has humor. it's solid either way

I need to finish Christmas, Bloody Christmas and Bloodbeat tonight so I can hit Christmas Evil and Christmas Carnage tomorrow night, Black Christmas and Santa Clause Conquers the Martians (MST3K) on Christmas

 

Watched Better Watch Out last night and yeah, it had some humour for sure but I wouldn’t describe it as a comedy. It was definitely more messed up than I expected, especially the sexual assault element

Decent movie, though. Some noticeable accent slips aside, the actors were all locked into their performances. I also enjoyed how it took time to set up the lack of cell phone/ internet use to make a modern suburban home invasion feel more plausible

I especially liked how even though it had a good sense of tension to begin with, putting a major twist 1/3 of the way through made me feel like I couldn’t trust my intuition the rest of the film, which also helped me appreciate that the ending wasn’t as grim as it could’ve been

 

Yeah, that groping(?) scene (iirc) always feels a little out of place to me, not a fan, but the rest of the movie is a really fun Christmas thriller with some good dark humor elements

I enjoy Jack Frost more every time I watch it lol. Still need to find the sequel

I've never seen Jack Frost but I'm thinking of going to a live "RiffTrax"-like watch along on Sunday.

 

I saw it at the mystery movie and thought it stunk, but ymmv

 

It’s been a decade or more since I last watched Eyes Wide Shut so I don’t remember a ton but this fucking rules and I am so glad I decided to throw it on.

 

My favorite movie. Just got the new Criterion release.

 

yeah, wow, I truly did not think I had a 2.5 hour movie in me tonight but I couldn’t look away. Incredible.

 

Vinegar Syndrome delivering their Black Friday shipment on Christmas Eve feels like a miracle lol, as does randomly getting an extra disc on the Charles Pinion movies I ordered.

 

My little Christmas miracle was snagging a copy of Rare Exports on Blu-ray from Goodwill for $2 this morning

 

I think Black Christmas '74 might be the greatest slasher of all-time. It's so cozy and colorful and sinister. Merry Christmas everyone

 

Can't disagree it's up there.

Watching Silent Night, Deadly Night for the first time. This movie is way more fucked up than I was anticipating lol
