Kinda works here but I got this cool creepy thing for my brother in law. This woman in her 60s makes them locally. This is one of her simpler ones but she has more that are super beautiful and elaborate and I love it
I love that. I’m currently watching Black Christmas and playing a spooky Krampus board game. It’s been a good night.
I just won! I did make a couple small mistakes that worked in my favor, but whatever. The yeti almost entirely fucked it up for me, and I almost screamed when I revealed explosive gifts, but I managed to just pull it off. First time playing this one, actually, and it was a blast. I’m glad I remembered I owned this one - I bought it back when I first got into Final Girl and was saving it for this season and forgot about it until recently.
It’s actually designed to be played solo, and I highly recommend it. Discovering it is probably the best thing that happened to me this year tbh. (Although not so good for my wallet.)
Well I'll have to grab it then. Sadly won't arrive before my holiday break is over tho. what are the best scenarios?
Lol, you have no idea what you’re getting yourself into. Definitely join the Van Ryder Discord group if you do get it - the community is amazing and SO helpful. Whenever I play and have a question (and I always have questions), I ask in the Discord and get answers immediately. I own all but like three or four, but I’ve only played nine of them because I generally don’t move on until I’ve won with both final girls, but I think my favorites so far are: Frightmare on Maple Lane A Knock at the Door Camp Happy Trails (this is the one everyone suggests you start with, and I agree - it has no additional rules, and it’s also just really good) Bad Times At Buddyland (I don’t care about Willy’s Wonderland or FNAF so I was worried this one wouldn’t be for me, but it’s awesome) The only one I’ve played that I don’t love is The Haunting of Creech Manor. It’s cool, but the end game is much different and even more dependent on luck than the others. Carnage at the Carnival is another one I sorta go back and forth on - thematically, it absolutely rules, but I find the puppets to be very frustrating.
I’ve never played or been interested in a tabletop before but that looks dope. I don’t know when I’d find the time if it’s solo, though
Christmas Bloody Christmas is more obnoxious and more fun every time I watch it, which is annually at this point lol
the carnival one with the puppets was really brutal. the one that's also modeled off of The Thing was hard to play, but infinitely more enjoyable. the Alien one is super fun but a tad easier than expected. for those interested in the game, you'll need the Core Box at minimum to play any scenario. i'd echo @wisdomfordebris sentiments and start with Camp Happy Trails, since every other box has some sort of special rules to pay attention to, whereas Camp Happy Trails is pretty straightforward.
Yeah, I love the carnival theme and once I start mixing and matching I’m definitely going to use that location quite a bit, but after seeing how much better minions are handled in, for example, Buddyland, it makes playing against Gepetto even more frustrating. They’re difficult to fight and also just really difficult to stay on top of, rules-wise, at least for me. Once I beat Krampus one or two more times, I’m going to play the newest one (A Demon in the Shadows) but after that I’ll probably play The Organism - January sounds like the perfect time for that one.
i think we're only missing one more from set 1. we're gonna wait until they do their Kickstarter for the full set 4 box before grabbing anything from that
Yesss. This is the discord channel: https://discord.gg/vanrydergames It’s kinda unbelievable how friendly and helpful everyone is. There’s also a Final Girl iOS app that’s worth getting. I think it’s like $5, maybe less, and it keeps track of your stats and has some other fun stuff, and it can also help you keep track of your turn because sometimes it’s easy to forget what phase you’re in. At some point I recommend getting the neoprene mats, and if you do end liking the game as much as I suspect you will, there are some other useful accessories. There are also things you can buy, like the tear dice, to make the game a little more forgiving if you find it too difficult. (I bought the tear dice after struggling with Camp Happy Trails but I actually never ended up using them.)
they truly know how to nickel and dime us haha. I'll consider grabbing the mat after I've gotten the game and seen what it's like just without the matt
I figured! I’ve watched some YouTube videos about it, but have been too lazy to track it down. Gonna have to prioritize checking my buddy’s plex after the holiday!
First the director of Misery, and now the actor for adult Eddie in It Chapter Two, both within the same month... guys, I don't think I'm doing so great
Visiting family in North Carolina so I haven’t been able to watch much on my Christmas watchlist. Hoping to get 1 or 2 in before Christmas
