Now watching Silent Night Deadly Night 2 lol. Very ready for tomorrow. Love reading about how insane the reactions to the first SNDN were back in '84. I'm not sure if it's available outside of the Shout Factory release, but I definitely recommend the unrated cut if you can find it
SNDN ruled. I involuntarily let out a "hell yeah" when he said "guns are for pussies" and proceeded to axe murder 100 nazis.
I legitimately cannot believe the new Silent Night, Deadly Night managed to stuff transferrable psychic Santa powers, Nazis, and an unrelated child trafficking ring into a single 95-minute Christmas horror film lmao. Shameless, outrageously stupid and tonally bizarre but also a blast that needs to be seen to be believed. I'm reeling
hey, so, upon rewatch, it turns out that It Chapter Two isn't actually that bad. sure, the main problems i had with the story remain true, and that's probably more so due to the way the source material was written, idk i didn't read It, but the movie gets a lot more right than it does wrong. the core of the story, friends coming together against evil, is still just as resonant as in any other King adaptation i've seen with that theme. i must admit, the movie is retroactively elevated by Welcome to Derry, which addresses some of the issues i had with the film, and, y'know, just adds a whole lot more to the lore and worldbuilding. i still think The Flash is a dumpster fire, but maybe that has less to do with Muschietti himself and more to do with the actor and story he had to work with. i look forward to seeing what he does with the next two seasons of the show.
I just rewatched both movies the other day as well and thought the same thing. I especially loved how the post credits scene in Welcome to Derry really does retroactively add some weight to that scene between Mrs. Kersh and adult Beverly. That long beat that adult Beverly takes after Mrs. Kersh says that line takes on a whole new meaning now and I really liked that.
I also agree re: It Chapter 2.. like, not great? But certainly didn’t find it worthy of all the shit it got. The talent, alone, in that film was worth the price of admission for me. Wish I could say the same about the series. Lol! I don’t even have valid reason.. just didn’t keep me hooked, at all.
Another holiday season watching Anna and the Apocalypse and seeing how criminally underrated it still is
I am finally watching Santa's Slay, which I didn't realize was on Shudder. Opening scene is incredible. Following it up with my personal Christmas Horror favorite, Blood Beat
It's probably tied with The Shrouds for top three for me, but I've still got The Brood and Videodrome a bit ahead of it
