starting to wonder if there's something wrong with me. you'll probably be able to guess which one based on my description, but we watched a creature-based action-horror film on Shudder that a lot of people on this site seemed to enjoy last year, and i found myself utterly bored and disappointed with it. fantastic creature design (which was only shown on occasion) and decent acting, but a lackluster plot, little in the way of world building, poor-ish cinematography, and predictable character dynamics that left me feeling let down by the end given the promise of its cast and premise. not to mention that Shudder's bitrate seems to be low enough to reveal tons of incredibly noticeable compression during darker scenes that made the picture itself almost unwatchable. glad others seemed to enjoy it, but it wasn't a great experience on my end.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

Shudder's streaming quality is awful I agree with that. not sure which movie this is though

I’ve watched The Shining with consistency for the last 29 years of my life, including once in 35mm on the big screen. IMAX reaaaaally made the steadicam and score pop in ways I’d never experienced before. Truly a gem.

  20. Ah, yeah, I wouldn't say there's anything wrong with you lol. I enjoyed it but I don't think I wouldn't call it a great film or anything - I think I was pleasantly surprised because the trailer gave me Redbox vibes.
