Keeper is good. The only one I've seen that i really liked of his since Blackcoat's Daughter (tho that might still be my fav, mayhaps). No disappointing twist (Longlegs) or jarring tonal shifts (Monkey). So effectively off-putting.Tatiana fucking rocks
I feel like what I liked about The Monkey is that it was way more tonally consistent than Longlegs, lol. It knew it was a horror-comedy and embraced it. With Gourley and Rust's recent episode on Longlegs was great and really mirrored my mixed feelings on that film.
Shelby Oaks would have been better focusing on the ambiguous scares of the found footage stuff. Once the movie got past the found footage, it fell off a cliff for me.
Yeah, I try to watch as much new horror as I can throughout the year but everything I've read -- especially in here -- has lowered any interest I had immensely
It’s a lot easier to hype up a horror movie than it is to make a good one I guess. I’m working on three horror scripts rn and they’re driving me insane. Not surprised most stuff ends up ok and the true bangers are few and far between.
What I have read, and someone who's seen it can correct me, is that it is this plus maybe Rosemary's Baby and another classic or two hodgepodged together into a narrative/found-footage hybrid that is inconsistent in execution. Seems like a handful of solid homages that don't quite add up
Shelby Oaks should have remained fully found footage. Best parts for sure. Everything that influenced it is obviously miles better (which reminds me that I still need to watch Noroi)
Update on the Terror Vision secret title Secret Title: This was supposed to ship in October but for whatever reason (nothing on our end) got bumped by the manufacturer. Good news is it’s on a truck right now and will land to us on Weds. We’ll ship this and Death by Dialogue to clubbers immediately and will ship all other preorders following that.
Yeah was about to post that. They just emailed out a massive shipping update list for all individual titles that are still pending.
Currently rewatching Psycho Paul's Film Festival, which I contend is the second-most insane SOV film I've ever seen after Things. Honestly a pretty close tie for first. Just absolutely brain-melting
Any Hellraiser heads in here? Volunteering at my church's bazaar fundraiser and I had some time to look around before the day got started. I found two graphic novels in the book room. I figured, for 50 cents a piece, I might as well take them. Got a super-sized collection of Joe Hill stories (will read, I liked The Cape back when it came out) and the first omnibus from Clive Barker's 2017 Hellraiser run. Not going to lie, the plan was to put it on eBay, figured it's a niche within a niche within a niche, didn't even need to look it up on eBay. That said, I just did, and it's astronomically expensive. If you are or know somebody who might be interested, would love to avoid eBay and cut someone a nice deal.
Enjoyed keeper just fine, probably about as much as the monkey , which I also liked more then most. Tatiana is amazing.
Why does the main character go so long without wiping the blood off her face after that guy shoots himself on her front porch] (Not a spoiler, pretty sure this was all in the trailer lol)
