Probably my favorite Perkins so far. Went in blind so it took a little while to get going but the third act was wild.
This is *Satranic Panic by Alice Maio Mackay, who also did T-Blockers, which I got through most of last night and really, really enjoyed!!
Probably going to watch that one tonight or tomorrow. T-Blockers does kind of meander and then suddenly jump to the good stuff without much explanation, but it's super enjoyable from a character standpoint, and I just think it's sick that a 21-year-old trans indie filmmaker has five features on Shudder right now.
Reviews for Keeper are sounding like the movie has the same issues I had with The Monkey and Longlegs. Interesting premise that ultimately falls flat with its execution. Gonna wait to stream this one.
I'm gonna remain optimistic. Wanna at least get the chance to see Tatiana in theaters for once. Her career didn't take off after Orphan Black like it should have
Keeper was wild but I don’t think I really loved it. Ending is bonkers sicko type stuff though and it ruled hard
Osgood Perkins was on the Films To Be Buried With podcast this week and I cannot recommend it enough. What he was saying about Keeper made me super excited to check it out.
About to start our annual rewatch of Krampus.. My daughter comes down with a shit eating grin on her face and says, “daddy I have the BEST early Christmas gift for you.” MELTED!
Satranic Panic is good! Not in love, but it’s very endearing and I’m definitely going to have to check out Alice’s other work - I could see myself getting very into her stuff just based on this one. Anyone watch Queens of the Dead yet? Any good?
No showings at our theater, unfortunately. Going to do Lurker tonight, Moon Garden and Satranic Panic tomorrow
