Ghostwatch and Deadstream might be good ones too since you mentioned other mockumentary and found footage movies. Just beware the latter is very very silly
I second all of those and really enjoyed Brooklyn 45. More supernatural/mystery, but I also prefer cosmic and body horror and still had a blast with it
Oh, re: Shudder recs, Psycho Goreman for sure. Kids vs. Aliens as well if you're looking for a really fun VHS spinoff edit: fuck it, here's my top-rated flicks on Shudder right now (omitting the obvious classics) - Skinamarink - Bloody Muscle Body Builder in Hell - Possession - The House That Jack Built - Mandy - The Ugly Stepsister - Red Rooms - Basket Case - Zombie - Tigers Are Not Afraid - Night of the Demons - Tales From the Hood - Woodlands Dark and Days Bewitched - WNUF Halloween Special - Brooklyn 45 - Kids vs. Aliens
the OG segment for KvA was one of the few i somewhat enjoyed from V/H/S/2 (found most of the segments in that one to be boring or bad, save for Safe Haven), so i might consider it
This one drops the found footage schtick and is a lot goofier, but I loved it. Also updated my last post with a list of stuff currently streaming that I really enjoyed
Mandy is my favorite movie, so i can easily cross that one off the list (might have to break out my Blu-ray in the next few days). the others i haven't seen, but have definitely heard about (mostly from this thread)
Clown in a Cornfield and Jack-O on Joe Bob's Splatterween special. Just watched Clown in a Cornfield, so I'll be checking back in around 11:15 or so for Jack-O
Jacko was such a wild ride!! I encourage anyone who can to tune in. I’m at Chat Pile but i’m so stoked to hear they’re showing it
My kids wanted to watch something relatively spooky tonight (they’ve watched a lot of the tamer family horror/comedy stuff like Hocus Pocus, Goosebumps, The Addams Family etc.) so I decided to give “Nightbooks” a shot. Well that was a mistake lol. I am currently laying on a mattress on their bedroom floor because the witch at the end of the movie scared the shit out of them and they don’t want to be alone. Coincidentally, I also watched a horror movie alone earlier today that had me feeling fine in the moment but now that I’m laying here wide awake and unable to turn my brain off, it’s really getting to me. The movie I watched was Noroi: The Curse, and I currently cannot get it out of my head.
Still have about 40 minutes left in my Black Phone rewatch. Really love the Stephen King vibes. Don't love the dialogue or performances from the dad/sister, but really enjoy the writing and stylistic choices. Excited to see the second one.
