This is pretty much my exact experience. 9th grade.. packed theater, but it wasn’t boisterous given the population.. it was weird. All the tough, “I’m not scared of shit,” dudes… including myself.. were kinda paralyzed. My best friend and I WALKED home from the theater through a wooded area. We were both trying to play it cool, but when it got to the point where we had to part ways, we both fucking sprinted home.
We might be the same age then. And this was before cell phones were common. I saw it with my cousin and he had just gotten one. And like right after the tape played the first time his phone started ringing. It was on silent but you could hear the vibration. Freaked us out
Joe Bob's Splatterween tonight! No real clues, unfortunately, other than GWAR is playing on the episode and there's been promise of lots of "slime and splatter-fu." Should be fun. Praying my baby's sleep regression chills out so I can enjoy. It's been a tough week.
Does anyone want to see the clues I came up with for what was going to be my Halloween party marathon? Might be a nobody cares thing, which is totally fine, but I'm proud of them, and I bet SOMEONE in this thread could go six for six.
All Aaron movies, some more obvious than others, selected based on Halloween vibes and group playability, in order of least scary to scariest. This thread will blow through them, but it would have been fun with some less familiar friends
FINALLY GOT THESE PICS TO POST Heart Eyes Q&A intro Heart Eyes Q&A Friends interviewing Josh Ruben interviewing Adrienne Barbeau at the podcast booth the homies crowd for Heart Eyes screening and Q&A my child as Dracula my child dancing to "Dracula" by Tame Impala in his car seat all dressed up and smiling w/ a crazy Facebook comment
Forgot to mention for all the F13 heads in here - Ruben mentioned Jason Lives several times when talking about Heart Eyes. Kind of fun to see where his biggest inspiration was in terms of balancing the self-awareness/humor and slasher components.
4. Bloody Muscle Body Builder in Hell 5. Dawn of the Dead 6. Evil Dead My brain is a bit foggy this morning - I feel like I probably know numbers two and three but am having trouble coming up with guesses! edit: ughhh sorry it took so long for me to add the spoiler tags. see, foggy!
How is the new Black Phone? really liked the first one, trying to decide on that or Shelby Oaks tonight after the Springsteen movie
we chatted a bit about it upthread, seems the consensus was directing/scares are great but some of the writing/dialogue is really pretty bad, supporting characters are truly kinda baffling. it's more good movie than not though I think
We watched the original for the first time in the basement at my birthday party. Like 15-20 6th graders. I shit you not, the first two times the phone rang in the movie our phone rang at the same time. We absolutely lost our collective shit. It was one of my friends moms trying to get ahold of him. Watched it with my wife a couple months ago. Holds up in a big way.
probably the easiest and hardest question, but any good Shudder recommendations? we resubscribed for the month and are wanting to watch something new most nights leading up to Halloween. open to anything, but i think we lean more towards cosmic and body horror generally (although we've used Shudder in the past for a few V/H/S films and Late Night With the Devil).
Not really cosmic or body horror but will never pass up the chance to recommend Vicious Fun if you’ve got access to Shudder
