watched Friday the 13th for the first time! i kept thinking, wow, this would've been so scary if it was 1980 and this was the first slasher I ever saw. in 2025, tho, it's just really cozy. iconic music, iconic setting. when I first saw Scream i already knew who the killer was, so I'm glad i didn't with this movie, it was a good surprise. the kills were definitely gorier than Halloween, and the sfx were pulled off pretty well. i can see how this influenced every newer summer camp slasher i've seen before

  7. not really horror, but maybe horror? looks wild

  8. Watched Freaky Tales last night. Not really horror/adjacent at all imo, which was strange because I feel like I remember that being the vibe of the trailer. Maybe it was just “freaky” along with the 80s vibes that had me thinking that. Either way, it rocked lol

I liked Freaky Tales but was definitely confused as I expected more horror lol

  11. The basketball one? There was plenty of blood I guess, haha. Like a Tarantino-esque action sequence. Definitely had a good time watching it regardless, yeah. Really impressive execution of the anthology format. Made me wish I was from the Bay Area!

  12. watched A Nightmare on Elm Street for the first time! i kept thinking, wow, this would've been so scary if it was 1984 and this was the first slasher I ever saw. in 2025, tho, it's just really cozy. iconic music, iconic villain. the kills are really creative and i love the dream logic stuff. i'm surprised that this might be my favorite of the firsts of the big three franchises. i can see how this influenced every newer supernatural slasher i've seen before

    Prestigious Prestigious

Ah, that sucks. I didn't really know anything about the movie, other than coyotes invading people's homes and attacking them, which seemed like it might be fun.

On a happier note, The Long Walk is also hitting VOD that day

Bone Lake wasn’t what I expected it to be. Still a really fun watch though
