Undoubtedly there will be plenty of conservatives/COVID-19 deniers walking their kids about and calling homeowners not participating snowflakes.

Y'all should join us over in the Halloween thread it's starting to get going again.

Just watched Grave Encounters (my 100th new movie of the year, looks like I'm going to smash that goal). Lots of fun, I'm always a sucker for found footage even if it's pretty generic.

  6. Today was super cold and stormy. Felt like October. So I watched Uncle Peckerhead and got a few more movies to prep for Halloween season!

Wife and I have decided we are going to start our horror movie watching early (because COVID sucks and there is literally nothing else to do). We are gonna try to do at least 2 movies a night from now until Halloween. This is what we've got so far.

    1. Saw 1
    2. Saw 2
    3. Saw 3
    4. Nightmare Before Christmas
    5. Hocus Pocus
    6. School Spirit (Into the Dark/Hulu)
    7. The Invisible Man (2020)
    8. The Midnight Meat Train

  8. Two movies into my Universal Classic Monsters run. Enjoyed both, but thought Frankenstein was much stronger in nearly every aspect than Dracula. Tighter writing and story, more interesting themes, and visual fx that have lasted nearly a century.

Also had an absolute blast with The Stuff. Problematic and flawed at times, but it's campy, funny, and grotesque in all the right places. I was expecting more of an 80s "melt movie" based on the stuff itself, but it felt more like a satirical horror-comedy that inspired movies like They Live and Society

Just watched Leprechaun in the Hood and uhhhhhhhhhhhhh... There has never been a more "made in the year 2000" movie.

Also checked out the scores and had a good laugh.

Lep 2 and 3 are far from zeroes! The gore alone is worth some points for being cartoonish and awesome.

Lep 2 has a girl open up her blouse for a guy and they turn into spinning lawnmower blades.

Lep 3 has Stretch from TCM2 exploding because her boobs and lips and butt get super enlarged

I always thought the magician's death in Lep 3 was terrifying when I was kid - even though he is clearly a terrible person.

Would love to do a run through all (or at least most of) the older and newer must-see's available on streaming for September/October. Is there a list online anyone uses here that is trustworthy?

Did our second Hooptober movie and went with Audition for one of the "country" entries. As brutal and unforgiving as ever.

  21. This looks good. I didn't like Vince Vaughn in True Detective, so it's nice to see he's doing something funny again. Also, I love that Kathryn Newton is in this, she's come such a long way since Supernatural.
