Finally got around to watching Relic last night. I did like it but maybe my expectations were a little too high. It was well written and filmed but nothing innovative or special about it IMO.

I finally started playing Dead by Daylight, and...this is truly something every horror geek needs to have.

I prefer FT13th, but both are fun.

  5. I bought all the FEAR and Dead Space games a long ass time ago but I'm too much of a wuss to actually play them haha

The scariest game I’ve ever played was RE7 in VR. Alien: Isolation is a close second.

Dead by Daylight gets tense and can make you jump at times, but it’s just a really fun online multiplayer game where you get to play as (or run away from) your favorite horror icons.

Right now I’m playing as a survivor rather than killer, and I’m Nancy Wheeler.

As a kid accustomed to cartridge games, the intro to the first RE on PlayStation blew me away

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

I thought the ending to that was one of the most powerful things I've seen in a long time. emotion > innovation

DBD rules. I’m glad they finally added cross play.

  11. Alien Isolation is a blast. It’s sooo scary. And I suck at it. I’ve only gotten like 15 minutes into the game. Haha.

One of my brothers and I used to play the PS2 King Kong game in the dark and it would always get us. Lots of jump scares. Haha.

Swapped some DVDs with a friend today. Borrowed Haunt, The Hallow, and Malevolence. Not sure where to start.

  14. No pressure, but I started an IG for (horror) movie reviews under @themoviemook if anyone is interested in following! Gonna be mostly reviews from my LetterBoxd paired with Blu-ray photos and shots/posters from each film.

Watched Maniac Cop 2 last night and was v impressed. The stunts and effects were great and there were several moments that caught me by surprise. The dirty New York nightscape that William Lustig and Larry Cohen create in these movies is so awesome. Henenlotter as well with his stuff. It should be a genre all to itself.

Finally got around to watching The Hunt. It wasn’t nearly as bad as I was expecting and kind of had fun with it. Doubt I’d watch it again, but glad I did once.

  18. Yeah, I thought it was dumb as hell but had more fun with it the second time around with my expectations lowered

That sucks, but seeing Scream related news just makes me happy in general.

  23. Random Acts of Violence was solid. The narrative and message are inherently flawed, but as a style over substance flick with inventive kills and lots of blood and guts, I thought it was pretty effective. Felt like a midpoint between a Kevin Smith horror flick and a Rob Zombie flick, which will either be a huge pro or con depending on what you're into.

Host was good. I expected the ending to be that they were all fucking with the friend who ultimately caused the whole thing. Weird that I've been conditioned to think every movie is a cry_wolf
