Finally watched Creep last night, thought it was great even though it dragged in some parts. It's a great first entry for Patrick Brice, thought it was really good for a first movie. Also Mark Duplass creeped me out in the best way.

I had only seen Mark Duplass in the league so I went in thinking it was going to be lame but I ended up loving it.

If anyone is interested, I write a weekly column for DreadCentral called The Jaded Horror Fan where I talk about random things in the horror industry. Click that link if interested.

Loved this one, takes place in the mountains about 45 minutes from me, not sure if I dug the ending though.

It really creeped me out bc I'm the kind of person that gives people the benefit of the doubt/multiple chances so that would have probably been me on the park bench at the end haha

Nah, see, if you're a fucking weirdo with a werewolf mask and you start dancing...I bounce.

I love Duplass, Togetherness and Puffy Chair are two of my favorites, everything else he's done is nothing like League and it's so odd to watch him on that show sometimes.

Everyone needs to check out the amazing Turkish film titled Baskin.

  9. Just watched the trailer for Baskin and it looks pretty fucked up, though it also appeared to borrow a few scares from other movies/trailers I've seen. I have no idea what to expect after seeing "From the studio that brought you The Babadook and The Human Centipede"

The trailer is somewhat misleading. But Baskin has some of the most realistic practical effects out here, minus the torture porn stuff.

    My review is here:

The ending through me off a little bit.

did they die in the van and was the old police station purgatory, or something to that effect? Also, what was with the constant flashback (or flashforward) inside of the restaurant with only the tow guys?

What do people think of When Animals Dream? I watched it last week and thought it was pretty good

Huge horror fan here. Can't wait for The Invitation and The Witch! Yes, I live in France and I have to wait.

There are people hating on the Witch? I haven't heard one negative review.

Some found it boring, couldn't handle the dialect, didn't understand what they were going into thanks to marketing advertising it as the scariest movie of the decade or something typical like that.

The Witch was an incredible movie, a critical darling for movie reviewers. but for the basic movie goer, far from their typical horror they'd expect.

  20. Ya, I could tell my audience either didn't like it or didn't know what to make of it. A lot of casual moviegoers walked into this movie not getting what they expected.

Ah yea, ok. I heard a couple of stupid remarks when I saw it in the theaters. There was a lot of laughing and shit like that by the time the credits ran.

Critically the praise was pretty universal, but the horror community had a decidedly mixed response to it. I think it comes down to a lot of those people just wanting kills and cheap scares though

A lot of fun. I loved the carnage of the film, but the twist loses me.

Which prompts me to forward you to an article I wrote on Dread Central talking about just this topic. After viewing The Witch I wanted to put something together asking "what is scary".
