Just finished Super Dark Times for like the 5th time. I know it isn’t horror per se, but it definitely walks the line.

 

Is Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark good?

 

Meh...it felt like an after school special they would air during Halloween or something, which is extremely disheartening given the talent behind the film. I don’t know, that’s just me.

Yep. The Halloween series just has higher highs and lower lows, while most of the Friday films are ultimately enjoyable, ironically or otherwise

 

Yes! Lots of fun imo

 

None of the Friday movies are as good as the original Halloween (or the 2018 one imo) but yeah F13 is certainly more consistent

 

I think I’m in the minority but original F13 > Halloween. In years since I’ve come to appreciate Halloween but for a low budget slasher F13 the mood, cinematography, music, editing is so good!

Can anyone give me some decent recommendations on Shudder? I LOVED Terrified and a handful of other movies on there were decent, but I find that a lot of the movies are a little dumb. Any recommendations are appreciated.

So basically the first four installments of each franchise are the strongest imo. Worst Halloween movie is easily Zombie's Halloween 2, but I've written enough about my distaste for that one. Outside of that, it's Halloween 5.

Zombie’s Halloween 2 is one for the worst horror films I’ve ever seen.

 

I don't want to do this again, but I don't know how you can watch H5/6/Rez and find it more novel or entertaining than what Zombie tried to do in H2. Even if you don't agree that it sticks the landing, it's absolutely more interesting than the dumb cult turn the later parts of the series went into. I'm not going to defend the Zombie flicks more than I need to because no one ever listens, but he at least creates interesting set pieces/images that stick with you over the bland mid 90s sequels.

 

One of my least favorite films of all time. I only own it because of the box set, and I find it borderline impossible to sit through. Just self-indugent and nonsensical with some really baffling stylistic choices.

 

H5 is rough, but I just think The Curse of Michael Myers and Ressurection reach a level of bad-good that is personally more enjoyable and easy to watch for me than the laundry list of things I don't like about Zombie's H2. And I say that honestly enjoying what he did with the first film

 

Rezzo definitely. I will have to go back and watch 4-6, it's been a while with them.

 

I just can’t stand the hillbilly trash characters that are in the Zombie Halloween films (and Zombie’s other films). I also dislike that almost every line of dialogue has to contain a vulgar word. It’s just too much for my liking.

 

I want Dead Meat James to go back and redo Friday and Halloween now that he isn't rushing through every video and can spend the time with them. The Friday series, at the very least.

 

6 and Rezzo are not good films lol but I will say, I think Halloween 4 is genuinely solid.

I should probably watch Dead Meat, huh

 

Dead Meat is one of the best horror YouTube channels out there imo
