Relic was pretty good. Didn't 100% love it, but definitely worth the watch

It felt like a love letter to Hereditary..heart seemed to be in the right place, but damn I snoozed.

Watched the Evil Dead remake tonight. I’m still pleasantly surprised by how, “hard,” it is. I feel like it was released at exactly the right time. Not sure how the MPAA would’ve rated it today.

Anyone have a good list of recommendations that hasn't been paying attention at all to new releases this year?

The invisible man, the lodge, the beach house...lotsa “The’s.” Hot take, but I enjoyed The Hunt as well.. had greater potential, but was still fun.

One of my favorite horror flicks to come out in the last 10 years. I like it just as much, if not maybe even more than the original.

I agree! The original is wonderful, but it’s an acquired taste. The remake is just so incredibly brutal. I know it’s subjective, but I feel like it was the hardest hitting material to be released to mass audiences in theaters since Scream’s final act. Super visceral and raw.

I’ve been in the mood to watch The People Under the Stairs but it’s not streaming anywhere

Watched this a few months ago..not sure which platform. This flick displays overacting to the umpteenth degree, but I’m still a huge fan.

Despite the somewhat poor dialogue, Hollow Man holds up. The SFX are really, really good.

in addition to The Invisible Man (I don't recommend The Lodge, haven't watched The Beach House yet), I've enjoyed Metamorphosis, Underwater, Gretel + Hansel, Scare Package, Extra Ordinary, Relic, The Siren, and Freaks

Some of those may be late last year

Yeah it definitely has that feel, not as oppressive or effective for me though. Still think I might enjoy it more on rewatch

Welp, I’m on forced vacation from work for a COVID contact. Guess it’s time to knock out a bunch of horror I’ve neglected. Time to get paid to watch movies!

  21. Relic was pretty good. Definitely a slow burn, but the 90min runtime and payoff make it easy to recommend.

Didn’t really like The Lodge. Thought it was slow and it didn’t have the ending or climax to make up for the pace.

Also finally got around to The Lodge last night. I was really into it until the memorial program showed up which really took me out of it. At that point it’s either that they’re actually dead which is kind of a boring movie, or the kids are legit sociopaths. Could never really re-engage after that.
