Why? It's one of the most polarizing films of the year, a self-indulgent art-horror film that people are going to find incredible and dreadful in equal measure. I imagine I will fall firmly into the former

The Ranger just leaked, think I'm gonna watch it tomorrow. Looks like a really fun slasher.

I'm just a big fan of the original and the middling reviews/handful of negative points made about it so far seem to be across the board. Would like to be happily surprised.

For those who haven't seen it, I can't recommend WNUF Halloween Special enough. It's such a fun, unique, nostalgic loveletter to Halloween and local television. One of my favorite independent films of all time and a perfect watch with friends. It's streaming on Amazon Prime right now, and I'd love to have more folks to talk about it with, haha. Here's a trailer, plus LaMartina's following film that I just discovered on Youtube last week. Also a blast!

Has anyone watched The Purge TV show? I completely forgot it was even a thing until reading about it getting picked up for a second season. Does USA network put out quality stuff? Haha

For what it's worth, I absolutely loved Suspiria, but I also love weird arthouse movies.

Seeing Suspiria after work. I am not entirely sure if I am going in expecting to like it or hate it; both options sort of excite me as I love films that challenge me.

Let us know how you feel! I think going in with the knowledge that it is NOT anything like the original is key. I wasn't expecting anything to do with the original, minus the names. I thought it was a gorgeous nightmare.

Before clicking the link I knew it was gonna mention 2017 having box office blockbusters like It and Get Out... sure enough, it's in the first paragraph

Haven't read the article, but just off the top of my head, 2018 has been pretty great for horror:

Hereditary, Mandy, The Strangers: Prey At Night, Halloween, AHS: Apocalypse, Apostle, The Haunting of Hill House, Ash vs. Evil Dead, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Into The Dark, A Quiet Place.

Not to mention the ones I haven't seen that either did well or yet to be released (The Nun, The House That Jack Built, Suspiria).

I don't think 2018 has been as strong as the past couple of years, at least in terms of films, but there have been a few standouts

I think it's probably the first in a few years that my favorite movie of the year isn't horror

That article is garbo and the person who wrote it seems to know absolutely nothing about horror. Wow.

I was just thinking that 2018 has been a great year for horror lol

I feel like Hereditary and Mandy are huge game changers. Suspiria and Halloween both showed that we can breathe new life into old series. I mean if we're getting a couple amazing horror movies a year I think we're in good shape.

Are you laughing because you disagree?

I thought the article was pretty harsh. There hasn’t been the volume of high quality this year, but fuck there were great films. We are definitely in the golden age of horror right now, this year was no exception imo.

Mandy, Haunting of Hill House, Hereditary, and Annihilation are incredible. A Quiet Place is really good. Suspiria isn’t perfect, but it’s not bad and definitely worth a watch. Apostle, Satan’s Slaves, Terrified, Revenge, and The Ritual are good watches. I hear Overlord is awesome. Same for the latest Channel Zero. Plenty of great, really good, and enjoyable stuff this year.
