Haha. Will do. Maybe I’ll watch it tonight and watch it again on Monday. My buddy will be high as fuck, so I won’t be relying on him for any discussion to figure it out. Maybe a second viewing will be a good thing.

 

Ending of Netflix's chilling Hold the Dark explained I haven't watched yet so I haven't read this yet, so it may not satisfy your questions haha, but I saw the headline.

still a testament to anthony hopkins' acting ability.

 

Yeah I’d have to disagree there. That scene is certainly iconic but the movie isn’t anything without Clarice and Lecter.

edit: first line isn't in the first two clips they link to. i'm probably splitting hairs here but this is literally my favorite movie of all time

the way demme frames lecter's face throughout that initial meeting scene just ratchets the tension up

 

I’d say they’re about equal, with the “Hello, Clarice” misquote topping both. Plus there isn’t an entire subgenre of cheap Halloween mask dedicated to Buffalo Bill.

Yea, it’s awesome. I remember the director discussing how he filmed both Lector and Clarice at the same level to cast them as equals. He didn’t stick with the standard tropes of filming the villain from below to make him appear more menacing. It’s crazy how much thought goes into little details like that. So cool.

 

The Criterion for it is fantastic. I love the scenes where Clarice really shows Lecter what she’s made of but I think the best scene for tension and fear is when he pretends to be the dead body in the ambulance. I SO did not see that coming the first time. Plus that blood eagle shot? Pure horror.

 

i am a rather large fan of catherine martin seeing the broken fingernails and blood on the walls of the pit she's in, when it all comes together for her in her head about just exactly who has her captive now

 

I really liked the movie, it's definitely something I wouldn't mind owning even though it's on Netflix.
