  3. That's the plan haha I wasn't sure if it was going to be the first series I do or not but it's looking that way. My buddy wants in and he owns every movie (as well as the entire Halloween series)

I'm most excited for Hellraiser tbh

I've never seen a single Hellraiser movie and I have no idea why. Clive Barker's vision of hell and his entire type of horror intrigues me.

Looks like Jim Van Bebber's The Manson Family is getting added on Shudder this month. Really digging how much good stuff is getting added on there recently.

Do you remember that A&E special about 10 years ago about the Manson Family first beginning? It was a "movie" for the most part, but with some documentary style storytelling tossed it. I don't remember where it started, but it ended just after the Tate murders.

After checking out the first Hellraiser film, you should read his latest book called The Scarlet Gospels. He really fleshes out his version of Hell in that book in a really interesting way including a fun take on Satan. He created such a huge mythology with Pinhead, the cenobites, and The Order of Gash. It's a great time to delve into it all.

The only other variation of hell that I can relate to Hellraiser would be those few moments in Event Horizon.

Yeah, the whole universe in Hellraiser is pretty great. If only the rest of the series after II was.

Nightbreed is well worth a watch too, speaking of Clive.

Nightbreed is one of my favorite of Barker's. Definitely have to make sure it's the directors cut tho.

I'm with you. Nothing very scary about it but it's fun to see what happens.

The plot from the Hellraiser comics should have been a movie, those were so fucking good. I enjoy the series but it's on a whole different level from Hellbound Heart and The Scarlet Gospels.

I watched We Need to Talk About Kevin back in 2012 and it was in the middle of the day and I had to stop halfway through just to reset my emotions. I had to take a walk just to bring me back to center. I finished it that day and it just left a lasting mark on me. And then a few months later was the Sandy Hook massacre (which took a more personal toll on me since I grew up just miles away from the school and a girl I went to high school with was a teacher there but was unharmed). If I had watched that movie for the first time after that, I don't think I would be able to make it through the entire thing.

  22. Wow, ya that's heavy. I kept forgetting it was a movie and was getting emotionally distraught several times.

Sounds like I know the next film I'm going to watch. I can't remember the last time I saw a film as powerful as what you guys are describing.

Just started watching it because of this thread, and... yep.

And yea, pretty heavy stuff. I didn't like the nonlinear format they were doing at first, but I think ultimately it made the film more effective. Ezra Miller... What a performance. Chilling. Tilda Swinton was just as great as she always is.
