Doctor Sleep is a fantastic book.

 

yes it is!

 

I'm just real middling on Flanagan, he usually makes smart but ultimately not really... rewarding films. like gerald's game, hush, oculus, are all small, relatively clever projects, but i also don't really care for them.

 

I didn't care much for Before I Wake, but I've really enjoyed everything else I've seen from him.

 

i gotta look this guy up, as i have seen many of these motion pictures.

edit: carla gugino in a haunting of hill house adaptation? yes please

 

Excited to finally check this out. I've heard good things. Feb 9th on Netflix!

 

So much stuff to watch. Netflix is dropping "Altered Carbon" right around that same time.

 

i'm gonna go ahead and say this is my most anticipated of 2018 right now

 

The Ritual looks far too lad-ish for me

 

if i had any mates in real life i'd love to go backpacking in the woods like that but alas i have no rick or squanch right now

 

Almost done reading the book. I’m looking forward to it. I think it can translate really well to the screen

 

Yea I loved The Wolfman one too. I was lucky enough to get that, the Bride, and one of the Dracula posters. Not the two color variants, the one with the cross. Stoked to finally get something new on my walls

 

It Comes at Night was good thriller/action/drama, but not quite good horror. a hook of "it's people who are really horrible" is just a little too commonplace to hold up on its own. it's not really as gripping as, for instance, Krisha was with its unique stylistic mix of drama and horror (not that i'd classify it as the latter). i think it was just spread a little too thin. terrific acting, though. still bodes great stuff for trey's work in the future.

 

Not to mention that the walking dead has been beating us over the head with the “people are more dangerous that zombies/infected/undead” theme for many seasons. If I wasn’t so fucking tired of TWD, I would’ve thought “It Comes at Night” was decent. Instead, it was probably the most disappointed I have been with a movie-going experience in recent years.

 

i don't know how long The Good Son has been on netflix but if you've never seen it, now is a good time

Tragedy Girls was so good

 

Great opinion I think. Mostly think it gets the “horror” label from the violence, as well as the post-apocalyptic setting. The movie’s feel and tone was unnerving the whole ride through. Truly mean it when I say I went a solid 40 minutes feeling slightly anxious because they did the suspense so well. The ending fell so flat for me personally. I felt unbelievably underwhelmed by a film that had fully pulled me in when credits rolled. Also agree they had a perfect casting though.

 

Huge fan of the book. Don’t know how I feel about this yet. While I do love Kubrick’s movie, the books have a lot more details you just really cant fit into a film. It could be good but I always like recommending his books to anyone who hasn’t read them.
