I'm watching my first Argento: The Bird With the Crystal Plumage.

Suspiria wasn't on Vudu but this was streaming for free

the story is a little too all over but the first half up until the beautiful bathroom scene is the most delirious adult fear nightmare i could ever have wanted.

 

Proxy is great!

 

Showed my mom Trick r Treat tonight, and I'm showing it to my roommates on the night of the 30th. October is going out hard

 

I watched Fear Inc. I'd only heard it mentioned in this thread but I kinda skimmed over the posts cause I never expected to watch it, but my dad rented it. It was okay? I laughed a few times but aside from that I don't have many feelings on it. It made me wish I had a Freddy Krueger sweater tho.

 

Lake Mungo was pretty solid. would have liked a meatier ending but up until i realized we weren't getting any more answers it was a great illustration of using mystery to raise tension in horror. i'm a fan of the brain melting madness style of horror but sometimes you just need a well put-together mystery.

 

I think I said it in here, but that movie didn't quite know what it wanted to be.

 

i dunno, i think it mostly just wasn't sure how to close out. it did a great job of stringing along tension and the cell phone video was really cool. it was a little light on scares as a documentary but still sufficiently creepy. i would have liked more examination of what kind of person alice "really was," cause i'm a sucker for the twin peaks style of seedy underbelly of a social group and a stronger ending mostly.

 

It looked like that was where it was heading until that ending. Agree about needing a stronger one.

 

lmao and here i am for the third time watching Proxy to try to determine quite what i think about it. so many movies to watch and i rewatch ones that weren't even super well-regarded (i do like it, though. i think).

 

House was some crazy shit! Eaten by a piano, that is rough.

interesting tidbit: the director actually wrote a majority of the script with his daughter, when she was a little girl. so a lot of the ideas in the film came from a ten year old girl. crazy

 

Damn..now I REALLY gotta check this out.

The disembodied head coming out of the well is maybe my favorite part. Or the martial arts scenes with the one girl.

It's part of their Criterion Collection streaming deal. Supposedly that's going away, but I hope not. Such a good selection.
