    Green Inferno is absolutely terrible.

Well there's no accounting for (my questionable) taste. Despite the cannibal tribe cliche, it was entertaining torture porn imo

man, i gotta watch possession. keep forgetting to do that.

just watched antibirth, and... what the hell, man. spent a little too long in derelict stoner and not enough in horror but once we got there, man, that was awesome.

    but does it djent?

I can agree with what you said about V/H/S. It was a good movie, a good take on the found footage genre, but the sexualization is almost too much. I second not being offended easily but I don't see the need to throw stuff like that into a horror movie. It doesn't make anything more scary. Some of the movies that you would think would highly insinuate nudity doesn't even have that much (I'm pointing to the first Human Centipede, there is barely any nudity for a movie that you'd expect more from). But that's just my thoughts, I'm kind of indifferent.

you're in a cult, call your dad

Yeah, I mean, I think horror and sexuality have always had an odd hand-in-hand relationship in some ways. Perhaps some visceral connection between human senses and fear and such, I dunno, probably reading too much into it, but I do find a lot of horror tackles sex and sexuality in a reasonable way without making it pointless, which is where my problem lies. So many moments in V/H/S (and really, hundreds of other movies, recent or not) that just seem to assault the viewer with sex for sex's sake. I get it, sex sells, and I am a firm believer that sex shouldn't be nearly as taboo in society as it often seems to be (again, another conversation), but at the very least, make it matter if you're going to use it.

On a totally different note, and I guess this isn't really horror per se, but is anyone else a sucker for cheesy paranormal TV? My wife and I have been on another Ghost Adventures kick lately and as silly as it may be, it's just good fun to watch.

semi-related: there's a theory that basically posits that sexual arousal can influence our other emotions, including making us more susceptible to fear: Two-factor theory of emotion - Wikipedia. for a more horror-oriented (if unscientific) hypothesis: http://horror.dreamdawn.com/?p=7977

  17. So, this may have been answered already, but I don't need to see the first Ouija movie before watching the new one, right? Seeing the new one tonight.

Also, there's a Netflix original horror movie that drops on Oct 28. Looks interesting.

I'm several years off from showing my daughter American Werewolf due to the sex scene and violence

Ferment showing her the Gremlins movies this Christmas and maybe Krampus

I'm impressed with all the positive talk from people over Ouija. May have to try to make it to this one.

Possession was really freaking weird. I'm currently watching Invoked, and as this one character continues to walk into the dark, clearly against her instincts, I realize: The world needs more You're Next type of horror. Please, just a little common sense.

Don't Look Now is such a poetic film. it's perhaps the only horror i can think of where the horror is so mundane; the serial killer is the closest we come to traditional scares, and even that is relegated to a highly metaphorical sideplot. and yet the film is intent on making the viewer afraid and in awe of human inability to control our fates or even navigate space and time in a cognizant fashion. strange.

  25. Forgot to mention I also watched From Beyond. Found it pretty enjoyable with some awesome practical effects. It also feeds into the discussion of sexuality/horror brought up earlier.
