So far this month I've watched

The Witch - still very good and benefited greatly from subtitles (Bluray)

Re-Animator - died laughing at the cat scene. The ending gets a bit ehh (Netflix)

Grizzly - not good by any means but it's fun enough to throw on in the background. Didn't care for the human scenes. No bear no care. (Hulu)

La Casa del Fin de los Tiempos (The House At The End of Time) - the biggest surprise so far. Really interesting to see the story play out in two time periods and converge at the end. It's a great story, will watch again (Netflix)

The Host - as good as I've heard it was. (Netflix)

The Shallows - nothing stellar but pretty good. I ended up letting my daughter watch this with me, it was relatively tame (Bluray)

Hocus Pocus - I've never really loved it but it's always a fun watch (Bluray)

The Brainiac (El Barón del Terror) - pretty fun 60s B movie from Mexico. Super suave guy transforms into a brain sucking monster with a papier-mache head. (Netflix)

The Houses October Built - better than I expected. Sufficiently creepy and entertaining. (Netflix)

An American Werewolf in London - I love this movie so much. Really funny, great characters, the makeup is amazing, and the music selection is great. (Bluray)

Stung - really bad. A b monster movie concept executed without any humor or good characters. The only thing that was any good was the giant wasps hatching from people's bodies (Netflix)

It - my first time watching it and I thought it was pretty good. I expected it to be really cheesy, since it's a made for tv movie from 1990, but it was pretty well done. The second half isn't as compelling, but Pennywise is great. (VHS)

Dracula (1934) - hard to be objective about this one considering the time and how much horror since then has taken from it, but the set design is great and Bela Lugosi really is menacing (Bluray)

Sweeney Todd - its a Tim Burton movie alright. Anyway I like it (Netflix)

Dead Snow 2 - just a ton of fun. Over the top gore and Nazi zombies (Netflix)

Here Comes The Devil - I'm pretty mixed on this one. It's a fairly original concept, strong leads and the relationship between them is well written and acted. Some things could have been done better and it drags a bit in the middle. (Netflix)

I agree with the others, excellent little breakdown. I appreciate you listing how you saw them. I keep forgetting The Host is on Netflix and La Casa wasn't even on my radar. I'll be watching both my next day off. Thank you!

No problem! I was worried about being too long and no one caring, haha

i may get better but we won't ever get well Prestigious

Dead Birds was decently nifty. a little too formulaic with its scares but the setting was neat enough and some of the twists were cool.

I need to find some time to watch Monster House with my daughter this weekend. Also bought Casper, which I haven't seen in probably 15 years and might be terrible

My roommates and I have decided, because of how much we've enjoyed watching Halloween movies together the past few weeks, that we're going to assign each month a theme and continue the movie nights together. Next month is simply East Asian films, so I'm excited to check that one out

Really need to up the ante for my horror movie watching during this last week and a half of October!

They're making a sequel to Ouija? I know I watched that but I think I was drunk and I'm probably also confusing it with The Midnight Game don't ask me why

i agreed fully (and still kinda do based off the trailer) but it went from literally no care to lots of care now that i know mike flanagan is behind it.

Yea..I mean I do like Flanagan, but the concept feels tired to me. Regardless, I'll give it a shot.

If anyone ever wants to see BirdPerson's dad lose his shit, walk in his house with a Ouija board. He's...not a fan.
