I've never seen murder party, but I certainly remember the DVD artwork.

Anyone in here been watching Fox's The Exorcist? I was really wary of it, but decided to give it a go and I think (so far) it's really well done. Doesn't try to remake the movie/book, just presents the ideas in a new setting. The creepy stuff is creepy, the evil stuff is evil, all-in-all I'm enjoying it quite a bit.

  4. The only Red Dragon adaptation needed is the Hannibal one

According to Bloody-Disgusting the the unrated version of Fede Alvarez's Evil Dead should be out October 25th.

I didn't know that! sounds like an interesting premise and a different vibe than his other work so can't wait to see it. will be sad if it doesn't have a color in the name though, the use of the colors throughout Blue Ruin and Green Room is really interesting and because it's in the name your brain really pays attention when they come up.

it was really fun! it is a super halloween movie so if you're looking for a halloween movie I would definitely recommend it.

I'm def a fan of the exorcist show so far! The cgi sucks but oh well

  14. The Poltergeist remake was fun, thought it never really takes off. There's a substantial middle portion, but the beginning is silly and the ending is a CGI shitfest. I feel like the more I listen to Movie Fights, the more I come up with ideas and pitches to fix films while I'm watching them haha.

I was so upset with Sam Rockwell's performance. He can be solid given the right material, but it just wasn't happening here.

  16. Yeah, I really like Sam Rockwell but he seemed noticeably disinterested in this. I thought Rosemarie DeWitt was great though

So I watched Knock Knock tonight and it was... meh unless it was Roth using it as a satirical take on the torture porn genre he helped market

i may get better but we won't ever get well Prestigious

Hush was very good. tightly put together, smart implementation of modern tech without seeming too indulgent or wink-wink, and of course, very cool to see a main deaf character who gets to exist not just as a unique and intelligent take on home invasion protags but also as a meaningful narrative one.

Berberian Sound Studio, meanwhile, was... interesting. very interesting. i adore giallo and this was a neat look at the inner workings of sound in film, as well... but the film ultimately didn't cohere the way i wanted it to. it was Lynchian - structurally, it reminded me quite a lot of Eraserhead - but whereas Eraserhead had its excellent climax, BSS (perhaps because of its aversion to any actual violence?) had no such underpinning moment to signal any kind of stakes to the wonderfully Kafkaesque setup. maybe i'm desensitized, but to say at the movie's end that Gilderoy sees the monster he's become seems to me to be highly overstating what actually occurred in that scene.

my big problem with hush is that the killer has like zero motivation and just decides he's going to murder some people in the woods but especially fuck with the deaf girl? he kills the one girl at the beginning so fast! though Don't Breathe did a similar concept but with a much more solid foundation.

Sleepaway Camp III is pretty damn cheap and sleazy, just as I would have expected from it.
