My girlfriend and I think it's one of the scariest movies ever made though we have never met anyone that shares our opinion

Well I remeber the old AP horror thread always said good things about it. It's pretty terrifying thus far.

    beautiful and chequered, the end

I think The Wailing was the most i've enjoyed a movie in sooo sooo long. The last 40 minutes of that movie was beyond tense for me. Simply incredible.

Sinister is almost an amazing horror movie, it just falls into a little bit of tropes found in more mainstream horror movies in the second half. Some of the jump scares don't serve any purpose other than to be jump scares. Especially when there are some really good ones like the lawnmower one, that's one of the best jump scares I've seen in a long time. So when they do the printout one where the picture of Bughuul turns around really fast it feels super dumb because Ethan Hawke isn't even looking it's just to scare the viewer and ultimately serves no purpose.
and I found the premise much more interesting before showing Bughuul, I feel like that made it less scary and more standard when it set it up really well.

but the premise is really strong and it's really well acted, I just wish it was a little more tasteful.

  10. I actually liked when they put a face on Bughuul because it made the movie feel more...vintage, I guess, the same way same way Jason and Freddy have face recognition. I had hopes it would be a new modern horror franchise haha

My only issue with sinister is how Ethan would like fall from the attic and drop all sorts of things super loud crashing everywhere in the middle of the night and his wife never woke up. I want her ability to deep sleep.

yeah I feel you, but the rest of the movie didn't feel that vintage.

if it was like House Of The Devil I'd be down.

Speaking of Kane I legitimately enjoy See No Evil and its sequel even tho they are kinda ridic and fly in the face of like... how things in the universe work.

Been watching Stephen King's It miniseries as I go to bed at night (each night just pick where I last fell asleep). Still holds up but believe any adaptation would better be suited as a cable limited series than a feature length movie.

I want to say the reception with sinister was pretty mixed when it was released. Idk whether it's generally that beloved.

I'm indifferent to It tbh. The film, cause I've never read it. Seems like a film that was the cause of many ppl's fear of clowns but I remember being kinda bored when I watched it at a friend's house. Shrug. Maybe I'd appreciate it more as an adult.

I still like 2 & 3... Bride of Chucky and Seed of Chucky are meh, they were caught up in the post-Scream horror revival.
