  4. I liked Unicorn. Another fun one worth watching for the performances.

  6. Talking about the tone of The Monkey and Stephen King adaptations in general has made me want to rewatch 1408. I have a really soft spot for that one

  8. I don't think this is horror exactly, but it definitely looks adjacent enough

Need to rewatch that now that I've read a bunch of King. I've seen it a couple times and it never did much for me but I've recently heard a lot of praise. I don't know how I feel about The Monkey, I was on board in the first 15 minutes then it didn't do a whole lot, it was fun, but barely a movie. I honestly didn't feel much King DNA in there, it didn't borrow much from the story and the characterization was pretty weak. Curious to your thoughts as to why it was a good representation of his tone.

  10. I mostly understand complaints about the movie's story and don't think it was exactly great (although I had a lot of fun), so I don't feel the need to go crazy defending it, but I really think there was a charm and humor to the narration specifically that reminded me of his written voice

  11. I haven't read any King. I've seen 1408 a few times, really liked it, but can never remember which ending is the theatrical and which is the alternate

I've also seen The Shining and Doctor Sleep
    the two newer IT movies
    Gerald's Game
    Misery
and the first season of Castle Rock

Somehow I've missed every adaptation of Carrie, Firestarter, Pet Sematary, and Children of the Corn

I’ve read the stand and gunslinger and the stand is absolutely amazing and everyone should read it.

  13. OG Carrie is great and Children of the Corn is fun enough. I remember enjoying the original Firestarter as well, but don't remember much about it

Currently reading Night Shift. Some really fun stuff in there and some really dumb stuff.

  17. I can't speak on the source material but aside from Carrie all the aforementioned adaptations, at least the newer ones I've seen trailers of, seem not very good

  19. Creepshow is an obvious favorite, but Christine deserves some love as well. Carpenter caught a vibe with that one.

  20. The new versions of three I mentioned in that post are definitely not very good

  23. This would depend on whether you're talking about how good of an adaptation it is or how good of a film it is. Because if it's the latter, The Shining still clears most of not all with the exception of maybe some of his non-horror stuff. Feel like Misery and the original Carrie aren't far behind, though.

  24. I love Maximum Overdrive and I don't care who knows it!
