I love Companion, it's so fucking good. It isn't as "fun" upon rewatch bc I think ideally the audience isn't supposed to know that Iris is a robot or that she's being used as part of some murder scheme so when a movie that relies on being surprising is no longer a surprise it has to have something else that makes it worth revisiting. The biggest thing ofc is Thatcher's performance, and my appreciation has only grown after watching Yellowjackets. But I also just really love the story and how it's being told, I think it's a compelling and affecting exploration of agency and identity in romantic relationships

 

So many horror comedies take place in secluded properties owned by rich ppl haha

should probably watch Locked at some point. heard good things. i'm also a big HEALTH fan and i know they have an unreleased song in the credits (although i've had it for a while thanks to their Patreon).

New Terror Vision release looks sick! Lost 90s SOV slasher comedy. One LB review likened it to Hundreds of Beavers, which I have yet to see

Hundreds of Beavers was great so that is super encouraging.

Speaking of Terror Vision, I re-upped my subscription in the past like 6 months and feel like I am not getting regular releases like normal? I know Aaron expressed similar concerns about them not responding. I know they have gone through a whole lot over the past year or so but still, not great.

 

Have you reached out? Someone actually just got back to me and was very nice about helping me out, so they may just be behind on stuff. I know it can be frustrating to see continuous announcements when you feel like the customer service might be lagging, though

 

They’re definitely behind on stuff but are great with customer service. I believe they were just forced out of their previous warehouse with little/no warning, so distro has been backed up

IIRC Flow had 18 lol. It takes a full two minutes to get to the movie and that’s not including the skippable ad Max throws in

Ash was cool! I don't know if it ever evolves past the movies it's aping, but Flying Lotus obviously has an eye and ear for aesthetics. I hope he continues to grow - never made it through Kuso, but I love his V/H/S segment.

Also watched Alien vs. Predator last night and it still whips ass. (Only the first one.)

 

In line for Sinners in 70mm at the Vista.

 

I have like 10 theaters I can go to in a 40 minute radius and there's not a single one that can do 70mm. I have one fake ass IMAX but it's a half hour away, so I don't feel like bothering. But I'll be seeing a regular screening tomorrow afternoon finally.

 

There's only 5 theaters in the country doing the 70mm so don't feel too bad.
