I've enjoyed all six horror-adjacent movies I've seen this year, but particularly Companion, The Monkey, and Heart Eyes.

 

It's definitely feels like the year of horror comedies so far

 

Hell of a Summer was fun but not like laugh out loud funny and also not as gory as I expected

seeing Novocaine tonight, I had no idea it was considered horror adjacent though. trailer makes it look like a fun action comedy

 

Hell of a Summer was fun. The dude that played Bobby was easily the highlight. I laughed a few times but it was only me and one other person in the theater and I think it would have been a better experience in a full theater.

 

hm yeah i already wasn't too interested based on the trailer. i actually don't think i've seen anything of his (as director or producer) since Freaky, as much as i love it and both HDD.

if I've seen My Best Friend's Exorcism i have absolutely zero recollection of it

 

it is indeed action comedy (and indeed fun). compare to stuff like Renfield and Violent Night

 

I think he produced “Heart Eyes,” which was fun. But “We Have A Ghost” was ass. I’m happy Blumhouse is giving him money to make lower-budget thrillers that are released in theaters, but this was kind of a waste.

 

I don't want to always sound like a Landon hater when I come in here but the trailer for Drop I saw looked absolutely terrible

 

The photo of the kid basically doing a Home Alone face that the antagonist sends to her in the trailer is so fucking funny

 

I didn't even realize that Melissa LaMartina's (Aurora Gorealis, wife of Chris LaMartina, WNUF Halloween Special and the like) directorial debut, For Sale by Exorcist, hit VOD last month! Will be renting this weekend.

 

Novocaine was super fun, that one kill with the arrow/leg was fucking nuts

A French Evil Dead movie would kind-of kick ass

Nah. A French director making a Spanish language Evil Dead about a trans woman, and it's inexplicably also a musical

 

WOW. Looks cool as hell. Excited to see how those 3 very different groups handle Predators haha.
