Yeah the third act of that totally derailed the movie

 

I’m like 40 minutes into The Substance and this is hands down one of the best horror movies I’ve seen in forever, such a breathe of fresh air in a genre of stale air. The cinematography is just amazing and holy shit the acting is just so good.

 

Companion was excellent, even if I had seen a trailer or two and knew a little of what was coming. would def recommend going in blind, but also is fun knowing too.

 

MaXXXine going balls to the wall with a shootout at the Hollywood sign is part of what makes it so batshit fun and different from X and Pearl imo

 

exactly what I love about the final act.

I am watching Starry Eyes for the first time (thanks @ghostedaway ) and it kind of feels like a mix of House of the Devil and MaXXXine

 

I don’t own a copy of Maxxine because of how bad that third act was and my horror collection is full of movies worse than that one. That’s how much I don’t like it.

 

I may just have a soft spot for Yuzna and Screaming Mad George stuff, but The Guyver is so fun. Basically Power Rangers for adults with Mark Hamill. Lots of rubber monster fights

The Substance was terrific, I was just floored by how good it was.

 

Between Rosemary’s Baby and Immaculate, this movie simply doesn’t need to exist lol. It had some cool visuals but it felt I’ve seen that story done better elsewhere. The “his name is Damian” and cut to black ending made me roll my eyes.

 

I thought immaculate and the first omen were pretty much neck and neck until the final 30 minutes. Sydney Sweeney going back shit crazy was fantastic.

ohhh boy, i feel some hot takes coming

as much as I love Immaculate, First Omen is simply the "better" movie

the last third of MaXXXine is awesome and if you don't like it you're no fun

no amount of interesting lore could make me watch the Terrifier movies

The Substance is... indeed amazing

whew, i was burning up there but now that that's off my chest i feel better

 

i have Franco/Brie's previous horror film The Rental and I know I watched it but I can't remember anything except that it was very much just fine

 

Immaculate and First Omen are both good.

This one isn't directed by Franco, so hopefully it's better.

The Rental had great tension but didn't go anywhere, classic lost potential

 

i have my limits

 

I personally don’t like the extreme violence towards women in the Terrifer movies so I don’t really revisit them .

also, The Rental is good.
