fwiw: I enjoyed Malignant way more but like both films

It legitimately looks like you're watching it in the theater imo. And that's the re-encode of it. The original file is 70gb compared to 6gb, so that probably looks even better.

I believe I said I would not be saying. lol

It is true. @angrycandy was correct. I also agree about liking them both but Malignant more.

I need to give it a 2nd chance to be fair. So it's still a tentative hate. lol

I will say that after I knew what I was getting into a bit more, the second time through was an absolute blast

  7. I liked Malignant more than Haunt as well.

Malignant starts off like a Lifetime movie trying to dip its toes into horror, but then the last 1/3 or so totally redeems itself when it goes off the rails. My only beef with Malignant is that the opening credits contains spoilers.

Yeah I just did not like my first viewing, but I have a feeling I'd warm up to it knowing what I'm getting into now, like you said.

  9. I think I prefer Haunt at this point (though I should rewatch it). I like Malignant and it's definitely the shake-up I needed from James Wan, but it felt a little less bonkers in a good way and a little more scattershot on rewatch. I also think the ending is mad corny lol

@digitalsea even if you watch it again and feel much the same way, it’s just a movie and the last thing I think any of us want in here is a hive mind. I often don’t like movies a lot of people around here enjoy

Haha no worries! I always intended on rewatching it anyway. If it doesn’t change my mind, it doesn’t change my mind.

    about to watch The Substance

  18. Have any of the seasons of American Horror Story been worth watching since Apocalypse, even as trash television? How about American Horror Stories? I saw they were promoting an episode with Michael Imperioli in the Backrooms and it piqued my curiosity lol

I loved AHS: 1984--mostly as trash TV, but I found it to be a fun, F13-type tribute.

Watched Resolution for my Benson and Moorhead pick. Pretty cool, but yeah doesn't exactly stick the landing.

My own Gore-Us pick is bashing me. The only thing that looks good that I can actually confirm came out my birth month and year is April Fool's Day and I just watched that recently.

  21. Usher rewatch: the ending of the second episode is so fucking wild, I still can't believe Flanagan went that far, truly horrific sequence

Stories has some gems. S2ep2 haunts me to this day. It’s just one of my fears tbh

The Michael Imperioli episode is good. Only one I’ve seen from the latest season so far.

I have a soft spot for AHS: NYC. It’s a more grounded detective story through the queer lens of the early AIDS epidemic with killings based on what was happening in the city.
