My biggest gripe is I thought Salem's Lot had very rushed pace and no time for any real character development.

Positives though: I thought some of the visuals were very creepy and I liked that stylistically this felt very much like an 80's King adaptation film you'd see on cable growing up and not like a modern 2020's take on King.

  5. I watched Subspecies for my birth month pick (August 1991). Not particularly good nor bad, just a solid mid. At least it's better than Vampyre (1990), another rural vampire movie which I watched for last year's Gore Us.

Speaking of which, I never actually finished last year's list, so if I can manage it I'll try to fit some of those into this month as well

Did The Uninvited (Lee Soo-youn) today for the foreign film directed by a woman. Man, this was a pretty bleak one. It's about grief, trauma, and tragedy, not really something I had in mind to watch in the month of October lol. It was good though and very well acted imo

lol the asshole college professor demanding Sydney remain in the play that has her play a character getting chased around by people on masks and with knives in Scream 2. I mean, Sydney deserves some blame for wanting to be in the play to start with but Jesus what a storyline lol

Yeah I watched today and there are some genuinely beautiful shots (the boys walking through the woods at sunset right before Ralphie is taken) and definitely some creepy imagery, but man was it rushed. I didn't even realize until the end that they indicated early on that Ben has a past with this town and a seeming connection to the Marsten house, but then they basically never touched on what that connection was beyond his conversation with Susan about his parents. The whole thing with the hanging ghost isn't even in here.

yeah none of the Marsten house lore being in the movie was a bummer. makes it seem like Barlow just randomly said "yo fuck this small town in particular" instead of being drawn there by the house

Salem’s Lot was okay, very obviously cut to pieces which is a bummer.

  14. It's What's Inside sounds too similar to It Lives Inside, tho I guess it's not as bad as The Invitation and The Invitation.

  17. This makes me so happy. It currently has a higher rating than '94, and if it's actually better, it's definitely gonna be a high point. Might watch it tonight

  18. First night of our Horror Fest went so well, I could cry. We tripled our maximum projection for merch sales in the first night alone. 200 heads in the theater for Killer Klowns from Outer Space.

Tales From the Hood tomorrow night, and I get to interview Rusty Cundieff! Also, VHShitfest is here and I am 100% picking up Psycho Paul's Film Festival

This Terror Vision transfer is beautiful. One of the best SOV transfers I’ve seen. What a ridiculous flick
