Love a good horny movie

 

I truly believe sex is one of the great equalizers and such a great setup for horror because it automatically puts people in a vulnerable position, and as a culture, we have so many complex emotions (such as shame and fear) associated with this thing that theoretically should only be a positive experience. It's just a great springboard for paranoia and the like. That's why I love erotic thrillers so much!

A Shaun of the Dead version of The Wicker Man? Count me in

 

Okay, so I watched The Jester trilogy of short films. There's a feature-length based on them; I've clips of the latter on tiktok so I assumed it's gone semi-viral, and surely enough it has 6.5k logs on Letterboxd. The individual short films though all have <2k, so I went with those. The total runtime was about 35 minutes. They're fine on their own and sufficiently creepy but I don't see the concept working for a whole movie. Might check it out if/when I resub to Shudder

I’ve already seen TCM on the big screen once. Might go again!

 

Trying to parse out how I felt about The Birds. It was a rewatch, but I haven't seen it since high school. Actually loved the first almost hour of exposition, and the bird scenes are iconic, but I do think it drags a bit in between those sequences and is probably a good 20-minutes too long.

 

Watched Repo A Genetic Opera. There’s no movie like it (derogatory).

 

Repo is definitely one for the gays, and I love a lot of queer art, but I think that might actually be the line that the straight part of my brain can't cross lol

 

Not horror, but gotta support the scream king.

 

These kinds of RT posts are so impulsive, like there is 11 reviews so far. Not saying it won't be received well critically! It probably will be based on the way the series has trended but just wait a bit! If it tanks after another 50 reviews come in, this just looks silly.

 

Yeah I always roll my eyes when I see these pages posting that stuff. Like it’s cool to see, but it’s not really something to make a big deal over. Not that it matters what RT shows, but maybe they should raise the bar for how many reviews are needed until the score is unlocked.

 

I can confirm it is.

 

I haven't started it, but I've heard great things and I know it has a dedicated fan base, so that sucks
