I just want Zach to make more original bonkers shit like Barbarian. Him moving to a franchise would be disappointing to me.

I'm sure he could make a cool Resident Evil film though and if he does do it I will still be looking forward to it.

Yup. I liked that recent RE. I know it's technically not good but it was pretty damn fun and you could tell they loved the video games

yeah it's not flawless or anything but a damn good attempt.

Tbh, I'm not sold we can do a "good movie" based off by closely following the ridiculous RE story, but I'm sure someone could prove me wrong lol.

I'm pretty sure that I had a panic attack at one point during The Substance, but it was weird because I just had a cold sweat and lightheadedness with no racing heart or quick breathing. Don't know if that is an endorsement or not. I did love the movie but I think I'm just having some type of underlying midlife crisis and caused that, lol. Such is life, I suppose.

  15. Saw The Substance over the weekend. Absolutely wild movie. Still sorting my overall thoughts on it, but it's certainly one to catch. Also HIGHLY recommend Coralie Fargeat's first movie Revenge, which is also great. Will definitely be looking forward to anything she makes now.

I wasn't really anticipating the Wolfman movie, but the trailer was really effective. I'm intrigued now.

friend and I saw Speak No Evil tonight as kinda a last minute thing (he wanted to see Alien but it just left our tiny theatre tonight). should say I haven't seen the original and wasn't particularly keen on it but I'm mixed on it overall. very well directed movie, the director really understands tension, and the acting is great on the whole although McAvoy reeeeally overdoes it - probably would have benefited from him dialing it back 20% most of the time. loved Mackenzie Davis and Scoot McNairy as the leads just for the Halt and Catch Fire reunion, insanely underrated show

again can't really comment on the changes to the ending because I can't compare but it did feel a bit like they were pulling their punches at the end, which is strange from the Eden Lake director. McAvoy eating a faceful of acid with no lasting effects whatsoever is very silly and kinda breaks the movie lmao. also felt a bit weird that a big plot point in the first 10 minutes is all the main characters making fun of a Danish couple for being boring, it's kinda hard not to read it as a dig at the original movie? just a strange watch on the whole lmao
