I’ll never get the appeal of those movies

A modern horror movie that pays tribute to 80's practical effects is what I like about them.

Still haven’t finished 2 because the kill in the middle was too much. My wife and I will finish it eventually in bite size pieces.

the effects are great but yeesh

  7. I definitely get the appeal - I don't think they're great movies, and the whole series hinging on increasingly over-the-top kills is a little much (to put it lightly), but I will say the second one was a pretty big improvement over the first

those movies just seem very mean-spirited imo

  10. yeah, make killers nicer! like have them go around different hospitals pulling the plug on terminally ill patients who ask for it.

I get that. Ive always hated mean spirited serial killers

  12. They definitely are, which I think is intentional and simply works for some people and not for others. That was my main problem with the first one. The second one gives you an actual protagonist to root for, though.

I get that this is the point but also it doesn’t mean I have to like that aspect of it. I see the appeal but needing to get more and more over the top is a tough place to be in.

I say this like I didn’t write an ultra violent horror movie script myself, it’s a tricky line to tow.

To me Terrifier is just torture porn like the Saw movies but pushes the envelope on the kills more.

This literally is a plot point in one of my favorite movies I’ve seen this year

Im just giving ya a hard time AC. I do understand where you're coming from and in a way its kinda like how I feel about jump scare horror movies. I hate them and I dont see the appeal about almost shitting your pants or having a heart attack.

  21. I've only seen the first Terrifier movie. I've been curious to see the second one, but those are the types of movies I need to be in the mood for, which is a mood I don't get in very often haha.

That's what I love about horror movies. There are so many different styles for the genre that you can see instead of it just being one type that you either love or hate.

  24. At this point I've lumped the Terrifier films in with stuff like Martyrs and High Tension that I've read about but don't ever wanna see
