Watching the Void, I think the real thing that sets the Thing apart is good lighting. You don’t see too much of the monster still, but when you see it you really get a good look.

Revisited You're Next last night. Super fun watch- had been a really long time. Forgot Ti West was in it lol.

  7. I watched Imaginary lastnight. Not good.

I watched The Brood this morning. Decent, but nowhere near Cronenberg's best.

I watched The Omen for the first time today. Pretty good. Doesn't feel like it needed to be nearly 2 hours long imo

  14. I should revisit Come to Daddy. I remember being slightly disappointed going in blind, but would probably enjoy it a lot more now knowing what to expect

Looking like Donnie Darko, Rottentail, or Night of the Lepus on The Last Drive-In tonight

  15. That's my biggest complaint. I'm not a big religious horror fan, and while I love 70s film, The Omen just feels particularly dry to me, some iconic moments aside.

Yup, feel that 100%. The kills were great. Imagine they would have been really shocking for people around the time it came out.

    Imaginary was a mess lol

Bad writing, unbelievable characters, super predictable. I think whoever said they made this movie just so they can get a house at Halloween Horror Nights is spot on lol. Some cool monster designs though

House of Leaves seems almost impossible to make a film out of but I’d watch it

  24. I don't like Nolan and I have yet to read House of Leaves (actually been hard to find a copy locally), but I would definitely read the book and the give it a shot

  25. Rottentail was patently insane lol very Troma-coded with a little Full Moon Features and Grindhouse thrown-in, occasionally very funny and other times so bad, it was good. Had a blast watching it with a friend. It's definitely not for everyone, though.

Finally did The New York Ripper (especially as Ti West has been comparing Maxxxine to it) and man, what a brutal giallo film. I loved it, perfect blend of violent slasher and nonsensical cop drama, but I never expected it to go as hard as it did. The literal Donald Duck-voiced killer might be the cherry on top
