Didn’t know this was getting a 2nd installment. Watched the first season with a friend and we didn’t really like it and ended up just dropping it after this wildly fucked up scene near the end of the season.

 

Have only heard negative things about Them and its depiction of black trauma

 

I’m going to spoiler tag this because of the scene’s content and not because I’m trying to not spoil anyone. I do not recommend the first season of Them. But the fucked up scene involves a group of racist white people putting the couple’s baby in a sack and swinging it around until he dies and I think they even sing during it(?). I’ve seen some fucked up shit in reality and fiction throughout my life, but that shit was too fucking much.

I'm not completely convinced the two plots of Personal Shopper totally came together in the end, but I really enjoyed watching it and think it will stick with me.

I also watched Sorority Slaughter last night, and if Psycho Sisters was a fetish film masquerading as a SOV revenge film, this one is definitely just softcore porn lmao. Shocking lack of slaughter (or creativity), but it was still somehow kind of charming and extremely horny, which is hard for me to hate

 

I think I'm doing Imaginary and Night Swim tonight, the Blumhouse double-feature from hell

 

I want to see them to just see why people hate them so much lol

 

Honestly the practical effects creature shot I keep seeing from Imaginary is sick lol will definitely be reporting back

 

Blumhouse is pretty trashy most of the time, and I'm using that as a term of endearment. Though I might not always be in the mood for that kind of thing, I had a lot of fun with Fantasy Island and The Hunt, but you'll never catch me putting them on any top ten lists. Unless that list is fun trashy horror flicks.

 

I still think Imaginary looks kinda cool haha. I'm definitely downloading it to watch this weekend.

 

Seeing the Thing in a big theatre is always so good. If a modern horror movie’s only hook was Thing style special effects I’d be all in. Doesn’t hurt that the story and characters are so well written but just show me a bunch of freaks and I’m happy.

It’s on Tubi; definitely has some issues but well worth it.
