“Slowed down, somber rendition of a song that is a callback to the original” is a trailer trend that really needs to die.

The first season of this was actually really good. Looking forward to this

Ok I think these are pretty fair takes on the AI title card thing

So the original review that "AI is all over this film" is disingenuous bullshit. Chasing clout and playing gotcha over this is so much worse than what the filmmakers did. People need to do some serious reflection before they grab the pitchforks. I'd be embarrassed if I were them.

It's the ol' "Ask yourself, why do you seek the Cup of Christ? Is it for His glory, or for yours? "

  6. Just sat down for Late Night. We got a trailer for In A Violent Nature and some guy by himself erotically went “ohhhh yesss” when it started. Movies are back

Can’t believe this has been out all day and I missed it. This is the movie from Caitlin Cronenberg

So I’ve watched that trailer for Humane twice so far and I think I’m obsessed? I need to see it immediately

  11. Did you see it today? If so, we the audio weird? Like, kept cutting out?

Late Night With The Devil was alright! Not particularly “scary” but had very fun Halloween (the day, not the movie) vibes. Some decent laughs, all around solid performances, and some not so bad practical effects (as well as some cornball Disney Channel type CGI)! Definitely see the Ghostwatch comparisons, but thought this did a much better job of laying out the lore of why things were happening

There was a weird audio thing where voices would cut out at random times, but the background audio didn’t stop so… I think it was intentional? It was definitely causing a lot of confusion in the audience though

Pleasantly surprised with Immaculate. Some definite giallo influences on it and Sweeney's performance is legit.

  14. I'm only halfway through Winterbeast right now, and boyyyy is this bad and hard to watch at 8 AM haha

  15. See I gave this one a pass because it calls back to the original, I feel like it's usually just a slow piano rendition of a pop song without much thought put into it

    teaser is cool! I'm excited!

  18. Is this streaming?

Oh boy, love Winterbeast but it is NOT a sober/8am movie lmao

  19. Did the original The Fly last night, expected it to be in black and white for some reason. It was good! Some minor hang-ups with the story structure, but the emotional core and the horror of seeing someone transformed into a monster are definitely still super effective.

Btw screenplay by James Clavell who later wrote the novel Shogun.

  21. Forgot to mention that You'll Never Find Me hits Shudder today and I have seen some really strong reviews for it, will probably fit that in tonight

It’ll be on Shudder later this year, but they’re doing a theatrical release in April I believe

  24. Ugh, the Late Night With the Devil AI thing is REALLY blowing up now.

Came in to post this because You'll Never Find Me is fucking sloooooooow.

  25. You'll Never Find Me will definitely work better for some people than it did for me. The last 20 minutes are really cool and feel very Creepshow, but the time it takes to get there is glacially paced and filled with nihilistic monologues.

Also did Dead Silence because I needed something fun after, lol. Definitely not good, per se, but exactly what I was looking for. Very schlocky and of its time. I had a good time.

Finished with The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra. This was a new one for me recommended to me by the co-host of my podcast on our Low-Budget Horror episode. Lots of fun! Definitely a little long in the tooth for its premise, but the bits that hit are really funny. It's basically a Mel Brooks film by way of Mystery Science Theater 3000. I sleep now!
