Gimme light, gimme love, gimme fire

My love for the Warwick Leprechaun movies is so large (except In Space). The original was THE movie that scared me as a kid. I was always afraid he come out of my closet at night and bite my ear off and make a boot out of it.

The Leprechaun movies were my favorite as a kid and I still adore them. I somewhat recently rewatched Leprechaun 2 and it was good and hilarious and the leprechaun himself will never not make me feel uncomfortable.

Even Leprechaun Returns was a fun time although obviously not the same.

Frogman was good when it’s about Frogman, the character stuff was a little too cheesy for me.

Definitely reminded me of Ratma from VHS, just overlong. But when it’s good it’s good.

I'm excited to see Stopmotion, especially now that I read someone say it's like Svankmajer meets Charles Band. Ha. I also had zero idea it was the Cat with Hands director. I used to be obsessed with that.

  10. Finally got to see Cat People last night and it left me with so many more emotions that I anticipated. Obviously queer-coded and can be read as Irene's character being gaslit, but even more generally, as a male watching, there's this element of no real protagonists, no real antagonists, we just are who we are and even with best intentions, we tend to hurt each other. It's tragic and beautiful. Kind of can't stop thinking about it.

Had no real interest in the remake until I saw that Paul Schrader directed it, and now I'm curious.

  11. Reading about the film also led me to this one, which sounds similar and pays tribute. The film is public domain and you can watch it in the article. Dennis Hopper's first starring role.

  12. I just watched The Nest (1988) for the first time. Soooo icky but soooo good! I fucking hate cockroaches.

  13. Yeah, I REALLY struggle with bugs lol

oooo the nest sounds fun. i really liked slugs when i watched it a few years ago and i've been meaning to watch squirm. i don't like seeing actual bugs get needlessly killed so it usually takes time for me to want to watch one of these, haha.

  15. very much recommend the MST3K version of Squirm if you can find it

VinSyn has their Half Way to Black Friday announcements out. The Homegrown Horrors set looks great, I love Hauntedween so much. Don't love the cover, though.

  17. Damn, definitely gonna pick that up as I love the first two sets. Can't remember how much cheaper it is if I wait until Black Friday, $54 isn't bad for three flicks.

What kind of fucked up is it? I’m trying to figure out if I should watch it alone or with my partner. Is there abuse or sexual violence or is it just gross?

Love Lies Bleeding is about as good as Saint Maud. Very gay. Not fun like Drive Away Dolls but may be better overall. KStew and Katy are stellar

It bums me out that Arachnophobia has fucking Goodman AND Daniels, but I’m so deathly afraid of spiders that I’ll never be able to watch it.
