  7. I think Hannibal is a well-cast thrill-ride that is virtually incomparable to The Silence of the Lambs, and if you're able to separate the two early on, it's a successful, goofy, early 2000s horror-thriller. Moore's performance was never gonna touch Foster's. Oldman's character is a great antagonist.

  8. But seriously, please go see Lisa Frankenstein in theaters. Give them your money. Everyone is so well-cast and funny. Kathryn Newton is a star. Zelda Williams wears her influences on her sleeves and succeeds at making a film that feels nostalgic without bogging it down with super referential humor. You will have a great time. It's so campy that even the stuff that doesn't land somehow makes the film better. Five stars.

Zone of Interest was also five stars, but for vastly different reasons.

I'm a Red Dragon defender so I get the impulse haha but I always thought Hannibal was a slog with a very weak last act. some decent kills and Hopkins is great as always but that's about it for me

it's kind of fun how drastically different all 3 movies in the series are with Hopkins as the only common factor though

I was unfortunately disappointed with Lisa Frankenstein, but glad some dug it. Awful about the quick digital release.

Rented Monolith before I saw @Aaron Mook’s review and now kinda regretting it, lol; I’ll watch soon.

  18. Hey, maybe we'll have reverse opinions about LF and Monolith! Definitely not trying to discourage anyone from seeing it. Just missed the mark for me.

Not sure if this is the right thread, but every once in a while I'm reminded that Dreamcatcher exists and my understanding was it got really bad reviews but I'm always into it when I see it on TV. Maybe this should be in the unpopular entertainment opinions thread

  23. Would be interested in hearing updated opinions on that one, because I loved it growing up and revisited it last year and unfortunately thought it was quite bad, even though I still enjoyed the cast and the setting and what it was trying to do. Just a really bad script and a lot of bizarre directing choices.
