best friend and I split a bottle of wine tonight and rewatched I Am Legend. goofy studio mandated ending aside there's some genuinely good scares in that movie, I have a real soft spot for it

Which ending is which? I’ve seen both versions once when they came out so I don’t even remember which one was theatrical

Watched Night of the Living Dead for the first time, I’m always finding out classics are classics for a reason

theatrical is the dumb one where he sacrifices himself (using a convenient grenade hidden in his science lab), the alternate one is the actual ending that they've spent the whole movie foreshadowing lol. apparently there's a sequel coming that's using the alternate ending as canon

  17. Monolith was... not it, at least for me. Bummer as I was really looking forward to it. Some folks might really enjoy it, but the ambiguity really missed the mark for me and wound up feeling pretentious and slow.

Hannibal, on the other hand, held up much better than I anticipated!

Bummer about Monolith. Hopeful I’ll still enjoy it but a little less excited now

  20. I hope you both enjoy it more than me! I could definitely. be wrong on this one.

Galaxy of Terror was also a struggle for me, despite a very short runtime and some absolutely insane (and influential) scenes.

  21. Wow, Gourley and Rust and on a different wavelength than me w/r/t Hannibal. I also think it's goofy and is essentially incomparable to The Silence of the Lambs, but once you accept that it is a completely different kind of movie, I think it's really successful at what it's trying to do.

  22. I also watched Monolith last night, but I really dug it! Talk about an effective way to work with a low budget. Single setting and single on-screen actor, so it leans on the lead performance and creating this sense of creeping paranoia. Nice little 90min slow burn thriller.
