Revisited Malignant last night. There are a few climactic scenes with a driving score and eerie backing vocals that are insanely effective. One of the things that stick out to me every time I watch Saw, too.

 

At least a quiet place 2 had Cillian Murphy tho. That's literally all I remember from it

 

Malignant would rule SO MUCH more, if the opening credits didn't basically give away the twist... I always tell people to skip the opening credits.

 

What I remember from AQP2 is the opening sequence with the baseball game. I think I remember it being a pretty good long take?

 

That scene was pretty cool. What I remember is one of the monsters either coincidentally floating to or somehow piloting a boat to the island they were all hiding on, lol

and also the movie having no ending

Also of all the plot points people complain about a quiet place, hands down the most annoying to me is that they have their young child walking in the back. That's so weird?? Even now in not monster times I would never feel comfortable with a kid im responsible for being behind me so I don't have eyes on them. They should've had one parent in front and one in the back. Literally makes no sense that they'd let the youngest kid just chill in the back of the line.

Late Night With the Devil is perfect for Shudder and I highly recommend!

 

Caught Paprika last night in the theater and while not technically horror, it was wildly awesome. Did not realize it was the proto-Inception.

 

I haven't seen Paprika, but it almost sounds like the same plot as Possessor. Is that accurate?

 

i just saw the trailer for late night with the devil and it has me intrigued. really hoping the theatrical release makes it to b-markets.

 

It's much closer to Inception as it deals with dream infiltration

 

All-in, this looks very WNUF and Ghostwatch-adjacent

 

Watched Leviathan for the first time last night. Silly, but a very fun and cozy Aliensploitation movie. If you're gonna rip someone off, might well rip off the best! It's basically The Thing underwater.

Forgot to mention I also did Splice earlier this week. Hoo-wee. Sillier than I remember, certainly dates itself with how it looks, but it is still so, so unsettling and genuinely fucked up. Kinda crazy this one still flies under the radar.
