I finally watched Dog Soldiers last night! It was pretty fun and I was happy that it turned out to be a great deal goofier than I expected. Not my favorite werewolf movie, but still a good one!

Dog Soldiers rules. Is it streaming? I haven’t been able to find it last couple years

According to Justwatch, it's available on Hulu, but if you'd like an invite to my Plex server, it's also on there.

45 year old men pretending to be college students and calling themselves “The Halloween Gang”? Hell yeah dude a certified must watch, even if this has been a pretty boring first 30 minutes

  13. The finale was... less fun, but not in a bad way? It had a lot of ground to cover, and it did so masterfully. I could feel its length, but I wouldn't cut out a thing. Well, except maybe the bodies falling part. I get what it was trying to convey, but I couldn't decide if it looked sinister or just kinda silly. It's the one outlying instance where the bold visual choice just didn't work for me. Also, the constant quoting of Poe is almost excessive, a bit cheesy and self-indulgent, but it somehow works, most of the time.

The entire show is packed with so many wonderful performances. It's all framed by just two guys talking by a fireplace, but Bruce Greenwood and Carl Lumbly are so captivating. Carla Gugino ate up every scene, mysterious and menacing, but also tender when need be. The actors who played the six siblings got to do all the fun stuff, being assholes and shitty partners then dying in loud and flashy ways. But it's Kyliegh Curran, Ruth Codd, and Katie Parker who, in their quieter moments, carry the emotional weight of the show on their shoulders.

Saw Late Night With the Devil at the Chicago film festival, definitely recommend seeing that. Very interesting structure and a satisfying ending.

I don’t know anything about it coming out but it felt like the perfect movie to watch on Shudder and be really impressed that they got something that good.

  18. My favorite horror film of all-time. Notoriously hard to rent/own, but it's currently uploaded to Youtube if anyone hasn't seen it. It's a great Halloween watch.

Our independent theater is doing F13, The Exorcist, and Halloween over the course of the next 3 weeks so I will be doing all of them on the big screen.

For anybody else curious, it’s the directorial debut of Sung Kang (Han from the Fast & Furious movies)

Watched it with A-List. It's nothing out of this world, but Shaky Shivers was fun.
