Threw on Terrifier 2 (my second watch) while I work from home recovering from my covid booster and fly shot yesterday. God, this movie rules and is infinitely better than the original. A rarity in the horror genre, as far as I'm concerned.

 

Now I’m remembering the Goosebumps dummy scaring me so bad as a kid

but it was vague Unsolved Mysteries aliens more than anything

 

oh if we're talking episodes of TV the Tooms episode of X-Files was a gamechanger. my family rented this little DVD snippet that only had the first four episodes of s1 about a million times from the video rental place

 

Yeah that Goosebumps dummy scared me more than Chucky did when I was a kid

 

I'm still trying to find either an Unsolved Mysteries or Sightings that scared the shit out of me as kid. All I remember is it was a haunted house one where the people would tape down the light switched and then come back and the light would be on and the tape gone.

 

Gonna try to finish Cursed and watch that new haunted house doc on Hulu if I can squeeze it in tonight

 

Rewatched Scream 5. I love this one.

I don't know what my first horror movie was. Like, yeah, I know I watched Signs and The Sixth Sense, but I don't know if I've actively watched anything earlier. I've probably seen bits and pieces of I Know What You Did Last Summer and The Faculty. I have a vague recollection of being really young and seeing the sisters and the bloody elevator scene in what I now know to be The Shining and having absolutely zero context. The first movie that truly scared me though was definitely The Ring.

I read stuff like Goosebumps and Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark growing up, and I also really enjoyed stuff like Let the Right One In and A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night, but I don't think I actively sought out horror movies until I watched Midsommar.

Do not want a Halloween show unless it's like a Tales from Haddonfield type thing that has nothing to do with Myers.

 

It’d be a pretty solid backdoor way of finally turning Halloween into an anthology series as they’d planned for Season of the Witch.

 

Yooo this could rule hard

 

just make it a season of the witch series

 

Give us films with Michael and a tv show based on season of the witch. Everyone is happy.

 

Demons is fucking awesome. Is the sequel any good?

 

Totally Killer was a good time. The ending was the best.

I remember my mom had a VHS copy of Halloween, and it was on the highest shelf. That’s the first memory I have being so afraid of something that it felt… good? Like I’d pull down the box and look at the images on back, getting a real thrill out of it while being too afraid to watch the actual movie. I’d do the same thing with stuff like Child’s Play at Blockbuster too - seeing Chucky’s face staring me down in the aisle was terrifying but I would still walk by it intentionally lol. Kids are weird

I don't know the consensus in here, but I thought the reboot was terrible and was super disappointed.
