I’m really enjoying Cobweb! It’s not a great movie by any means but the Halloween atmosphere is great and it’s bad/off in mostly goofy ways that would be a blast during a Halloween movie marathon. Really dumb, cozy and ugly all at the same time. Have about thirty minutes left.

Just watched it and was about to say mostly the same. It’s all over the place and kinda falls apart by the end but what a cool Halloween flick to be made in 2023

It gets by on pretty much atmosphere alone and I'm perfectly fine with that. Will watch it many more times.

Just finished. It was very charming in the way a bad 80s/90s horror movie can be. It’s all over the place tonally and narratively, and it feels like they didn’t really know how to thicken the plot or even where to take it, but it’s fun and goofy as hell with a few genuine chills and tense atmosphere. Laughably bad ending, but it hardly matters. Reminded me of a lot of movies but I found myself thinking of Lady in White the most (minus the racism). I’m also very stoned so it’s possible that’s the only reason I enjoyed it, but I do feel like I’m already going to want to rewatch this one in October.

  7. I finally watched The Thing (2011) and have to say I didn’t hate it. Carpenter’s movie is one of my favorites of all time though, so obviously this one pales in comparison.

I always took it as an allegory for death. Yara reading that line from The Idiot kind of sealed that for me. Death also gets passed on through sex (ironically via life) and you never know when and where it’s going to come for you.

  13. Just watched Triangle and really liked it. Starts off a little slow, once it gets going I was hooked. A while ago I saw a tiktok sort of spoiling the premise, but I don't think that negatively affected my experience. Honestly, I don't think I would've even checked this out had I not heard about it through that tiktok. So... sometimes some spoilers are good? idk.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

showed my housemates Deadstream last night as my pick for movie night. worked like gangbusters, they aren't big horrorheads so it was alternately getting really tense during the scares and laughing at all the rest. BEEF CAM and the eyeball eating got a huge reaction

  17. oh, right, I showed my friends Get Out yesterday! I'd already shown a couple of them a few years ago. the two who hadn't seen it, well, they really appreciated the comic relief the TSA friend provides haha

I'm always amazed by the Betty Gabriel and Lakeith Stanfield scenes, they really killed it. Also, I love that Allison Williams is in this, the Perfection, and M3GAN

My friends aren't really horrorheads either (I've never used that term!) so I'm grateful they've put up with my shit for this long as I revisit my faves with them (and it helps that we break it up by watching funny movies in between). Next up is Us and Nope!

I watched the popes exorcist or whatever and hmm. It was mid like most exorcism movies that aren't the exorcist and the exorcist III. But it was entertaining enough I guess
