  1. I dunno haha I just remember looking through Redbox and sometimes there were some bullshit ripoff movies in there, like Transmorphers when Transformers was popular, shit like that. haha.

lol what the hell. I love the first act of Malignant, it starts out as a cool haunted house story.

Evil Dead Rise goes hard at the end too but Malignant is so fun in the middle when you finally figure out what’s going on.

If anything the actual ending falls a little flat after the scenes leading up to it.

THE ASYLUM You're probably thinking of The Asylum. They've made a name for themselves doing copycat ripoff movies. Pretty sure they also partnered with SyFy for most of the ridiculous aquatic creature shenanigan movies that have seen a surge in the past couple years.

  6. Yeah, maybe. I never got any of those movies. I just remember always seeing them in Redbox when there'd be a big movie out haha.

  7. New French horror/thriller out of Belgium coming out Sept 8 (VOD on Sept 26). Fair warning, the trailer itself creeped me out and has some upsetting stuff in it. It's gotten a considerable amount of buzz during it's festival circuit run, so I'm curious.

Okay. The “bear” scene from Annihilation is just as scary and unsettling the 5th time around.

  11. I've never heard of The Asylum but the Big Lots I go to usually has a lot of dvd releases by stuff like Fangoria Fright Fest, Xlrator Macabre, and Tartan Asian Extreme

Going to start my horror marathon a month early starting on September 1st and leading up to Halloween, where I’ll hopefully be watching at least one horror movie a day. I made a horror playlist on plex (I think it came out to 902 movies) and I’m just going to hit shuffle every day and see what happens. Not getting through all those movies obviously but I’m hoping for a mixture of stuff I’ve seen and stuff I haven’t watched yet. But that’s up to fate to decide what happens the next two months

  15. No! It's on my list, I just haven't been able to track it down! Looks right up my alley.

Saw the remaster of Oldboy last night. I'd never actually seen it, but knew just enough about it to peg the twist pretty early on, which I think kind of dulled the visceral punch other folks in the theater were clearly feeling. Leaving the theater one lady was so pissed at her husband, "That was the most violent movie I've ever seen!" Which made me laugh, because I thought the filmmaking made the violence much more suggestive than explicit. Really happy I got to see it in theaters.

So Bad Things looks like it was heavily influenced by The Shining? Anyone know anything about it?

Birth/Rebirth wasn't nearly as gnarly as I was expecting but I still really enjoyed it.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

took my housemates out to see Talk to Me tonight but it sold out so we caught Voyage of the Demeter instead. not a bad replacement! just a straightforward, nasty film with a really brutal animalistic Dracula, kinda nice to see a throwback film like this in the elevated horror era or whatever we're calling it now
