PLEASE do yourself a favor and watch Hell House LLC. It packs a ton of charm and hits all the right notes. As far as “haunted houses gone wrong” movies go..it’s the cream of the crop.

 

It's on sale through iTunes for 5.99 so I went ahead and bought it--going to watch tonight!

The first two Hell Houses are good, the third not so much.

Curious about October Built movies since I hadn't heard of them before and I'm a sucker for found footage.

 

I love both of the October Built movies

 

The first one is fun, the second one is bad but also one of the most truly batshit insane sequels I've ever seen

 

Holy fuck, this was fantastic!! I’m so bummed to have only watched this now, but it will def be part of my regular rotation. Found footage at its finest for sure

 

Just saw Villains on Hulu, really fun but a weird one tonally

 

Talk To Me was amazing. I loved it, my brother hated it.

You Won't Be Alone was really good! Some of it is hard to watch, but the rest is just so pretty. I love the use of body horror juxtaposed with such gorgeous scenery, and of shocking violence juxtaposed with the beauty of the mundane. Regarding the ending, I like to believe that killing Maria was an act of mercy rather than malice, in which case Navena further retains her humanity as a witch. It's nice to see a horror movie with a hopeful ending every once in a while

 

I'm watching Mrs Davis right now and apparently Betty Gilpin was in The Hunt. Is The Hunt good? I keep seeing clips of it on Tiktok. I always thought it was some sort of right wing Hunger Games

 

It's... bizarre. Kind of fun if you don't take it seriously, which it isn't meant to be. Very on the nose, politically.

 

Okay, so, I ended up watching The Hunt, and yeah, it's pretty stupid and superficial. I feel like this was partly supposed to be a sort of scathing political satire about class and ideology, but it doesn't take itself seriously enough to say anything that's actually substantial about either side. at least the kills are kind of fun. Worth a watch just to see Betty Gilpin kick some major ass. Was kinda hoping Emma Roberts would be in it more, she's usually pretty good in most things, and I really liked The Blackcoat's Daughter

 

Thinking again about Scary Stories, those kids are not kids anymore and are going to at the very least be 6 years older than they were when they shot the first one by the time they start shooting a sequel.

 

Zoe is 21 now and she's the youngest main cast member

 

Dang, and one of the other guys is 26. I know people have played teenagers into their 30s, but it doesn't seem great. Hopefully they can start shooting soon.

 

Found out we are screening Jawsploitation films at our Horror Fest this year (Piranha, Grizzly, Alligator) as well as The Mothman Prophecies with the director! I loved that movie as a kid and can't wait to see it again.

 

Love me some Mothman Prophesies. Indrid Cold's voice is something else.
