Starting toook at my favorite films of the year so far, and granted, I've only seen 10, but these two are pretty easily the most-underrated

 

They liked it! Said it was a very beautiful movie and much of the horror was implied so it was not too scary. One of them had seen Let Me In, tho, so she kinda spoiled that it was a vampire movie for the other two, but oh well

I think I love it more this time than I did before now that I'm actually a big fan of the horror genre and not just watching it because people said it's a good movie in general. idk it just hits all the right notes and gives me a warm cozy feeling

 

I wish I liked 65 more

 

I loved 65. Really worked for me. I was high as balls but I got invested lol.

 

Wild but I can see it.

 

My runners up would be Return of the Living Dead, The Thing, and Ready or Not. I'd wanna split the difference between old and new, social commentary and just plain fun

 

Dogface is fun as fuck. Actually thought the twist was great haha

Spotted both The Night House and Resurrection on Hulu, if you haven't seen them get on that shit

 

And my latest Terror Vision shipment just came in! Get My Gun and Linnea Quigley's Horror Workout

 

Watched Escape Room on Hulu, was about as good (or bad?) as you'd expect. Highlights were Taylor Russel (who was also in Bones and All!) and Deborah Ann Woll (of course the only other likable character died halfway through the movie while everyone you want to die sticks around too long), the other characters were all either kinda annoying or very annoying. Too much mystery and not enough reveal to feel rewarding, but I guess that's what the sequel is for. The rooms are creative enough and the deaths are pretty tame to keep it pg-13, which is a good thing imo, it's not just devolving into another torture porn Saw replica. The second one's on Starz so I'll watch that next. idk sometimes you just find yourself in the mood for trashy shit and end up enjoying it, like Fantasy Island or The Invitation (2022)

 

Second has a nice twist, the rooms are more creative, and the characters are less annoying. It's undoubtedly a step up, but I still keep waiting for something bigger to happen, a closer look behind the curtain. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm hoping they greenlight a third one to wrap things up. I mostly just wanna see Taylor Russel in more things, like, in general.
