I really wish the last 15 minutes or so weren’t as brutal as they are because I really liked a good amount of the movie but as a whole it just wasn’t for me. Maybe I need the watered down American remake! (Oh god what have I become??)

  4. Aster and Peele are neck and neck. The Northman was cool but it's easily the weakest film on that list

I absolutely love Peele and Eggers but Hereditary/Midsommar are on a special level for me.

Finished up Swarm last night. A pretty cool little show that I haven't heard much about (except on Chorus a little bit). Much more dark and violent than I would've expected from an Amazon Original.

It is honestly perfect in every single way to me. There is not a movie I have seen more.

I’m dying to see Beau. Haven’t been to a theater in like three or four years but hopefully I can make this happen. Stoked to see @Aaron Mook love it considering all the skepticism!!

You're not alone here. It was way too much for me. I felt like complete garbage after watching it, which at one point in time, may have been my thing. Not anymore.

  17. Great list, I've never seen The Hand and I've been looking for an excuse to revisit The Strangers

  18. Currently in the middle of Hellraiser 3 and it's trash but also like super fun watchable 90s trash, I love it

The Hand is the only one I haven't seen on this list...so ready for this season!

Hellraiser movies are the only movies that cause me strong visceral responses in my limbs and skin when I watch them. Maybe a few moments in Saw did it, but the practical FX from that era of horror still to this day top most movies from around the early 00’s onward.

Haven’t seen The Hand or The Vanishing. Paul said the latter is a film that scared Stanley Kubrick. Instantly added to my “must see” list!

  22. The Vanishing is dryyyyyy but the good stuff is really, really good.

  23. I can't imagine liking Beau is Afraid as much as Midsommar Director's Cut or Nope but I guess I'll find out when I see it; that's the only one I'm missing out on right now. Eggers has this really cool heavily researched historical drama vibe going on but I personally prefer the other two directors' works that just happen to be set in the present day. Hereditary is one of the most terrifying things I've ever seen. in terms of rewatchability, though, I'd have to give it to Peele. Even Us, his weakest, I've seen at least twice and very much enjoy
