Speak No Evil was the one a lot of people were saying it was tough to watch, right?

  7. Yes. It's good, but tough.

  8. Yeah, okay, singing the praises of these again, both the first one and the new one, especially if The Outwaters left you wanting more. The sequel from this year (Horror in the High Desert: Minerva) is a little unfocused, but also ambitious and genuinely super creepy. Could end up being one of the better horror flicks of the year, especially with how it's moving under the radar. Check them out if you're in the mood for short and effective found-footage!

Speaking of found footage, i saw Blair Witch 1 and 2 hit Shudder recently. Due for a rewatch of the first one but does anyone have any opinions on Book of Shadows? I remember it being panned upon release but I think there was a resurgence for it after a few years of folks who really liked it.

Isn’t that the movie with Kane?

That was the sequel, See No Evil. The first in the trilogy was Hear No Evil

I watched Book of Shadows once (probably in high school) and deemed it the worst movie i'd ever seen. now i want to revisit it because i don't remember anything about it lol

Damn haven't really even thought of rewatching it since it came out, but it's be interesting to see if it's actually a gem. It was kind of doomed from the start, The Blair Witch Project was such a pop culture artifact that releasing just a straight up movie as a sequel didn't really stand a chance in it's shadow.

Seeing the first in theaters is something I'll never forget. I was 13 and we had to have a friend's cousin that worked at the theater sneak us in because before that you could sometimes buy a Rated R ticket without a parent if the person at the booth was cool, but for this they were really cracking down. We had to sit in the very first row because the theater was packed, that's usually bad, but especially disorienting for this movie. No one had a clue what they were watching, but everyone lost their shit in that final scene.

I remember it very well as it was filmed in the woods close to my house, remember everyone wanting to find the house.

  15. I don't think Book of Shadows is some kind of underrated gem, but I do think it's had a cult resurgence as a "so bad it's good" flick. I haven't seen it. I still go to bat for Blair Witch.

  18. I wanna see Beau is Afraid, but three hours? Well, okay, I did sit through all of John Wick 4, which was only like ten minutes shorter...

Book of Shadows BW2 is bad. Had potential and creates some anxiety driven moments, but the acting and script are terrible. It did stick with me for awhile as a teenager though because I remember every time I saw a commercial for Burn Notice my brain would go “hey, that’s the Blair Witch 2 guy.”

  24. As much as I was disappointed by Blair Witch Project I really liked the lead's performance, so it's unfortunate that the film led her to quit acting, but she seems to be doing well for herself now so that's good
