Oh wow..didn’t know this was in the works. The first one is incredibly special to me. It may be within my top 3 found footage films.

Paramount+ has all the Paranormal Activities so I am watching these for the first time. I never knew how interconnected these movies were and how much lore there was.

I am still on the first one, but I did take a peak at the plot outlines for the sequels when I saw Katie is in all of them.

I haven't seen the one that came out recently, but it's a fun series with only really one stinker.

I read this as “Stephen Colletti” and was like oh I guess the Laguna Beach guy is making horror movies now

I read that the most recent one that is a Paramount+ Original is the only one that is standalone and has nothing to do with the Katie plot. Kinda lame.

  11. Renfield rocks

    Yeah, Renfield was a blast.

I like that PA3 is supposed to be found footage of home video VHS tapes from 1988 but the camera quality looks way too clear and good for that to be believable lol

  14. Have not seen any The Marked Ones or Ghost Dimension, but Next of Kin is wild haha

Speaking of found footage movies, Horror in the High Desert came out of nowhere for me. Really effective storytelling for how low-budget it is. Streaming on Prime, I immediately started the second one on Tubi after finishing. Both under 80 minutes, too!

  15. anytime found footage movies comes up I gotta bring up my fave Afflicted

Watching Duel for the first time and it absolutely rules. Spielberg really just had it from the very beginning.

  17. Mandy is no longer on Shudder? fuuuuuck

  18. PA 2 and 3 are both pretty solid imo. I remember The Marked Ones being alright. 4 was pretty bad though and I never saw the last two. The first one is fine but has like zero replay value imo

    Some mini reviews:

Abandoned - Sometimes I'm a sucker for generic haunted house movies. Emma Roberts basically did the best she could do to carry this movie. Everyone else was just kinda phoning it in. 2.5/5

65 - Not horror but I'll throw it into the mix. A very okay sci-fi action flick. It didn't feel like there was enough dinosaur action in there, imo. 2.5/5

Alone at Night - I was hoping for a fun slasher, but it was just dull and the acting was poor . The reality show bits weren't funny either. 2/5

Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey - Not enough camp for me. Only scene I liked really was Pooh going off on some British hillbilly looking dudes lol. Also felt a bit misogynistic. 1.5/5

The Outwaters - Almost gave this 3 stars, but I got a bit tired of watching a mostly black screen for long periods of time in the second half of the film. I actually liked the first half better. Took 55 minutes for something to happen, but I didn't mind it since I enjoyed the characters and the shots of the desert. 2.5/5

Shoutout to @wisdomfordebris for being a legend for his Plex account. Overall, not a good horror viewing month so far. Evil Dead Rise should fix that this week!

Just cracked into Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein novel. I think I’m gonna make it a goal to add the horror classics into my book reading this year and then watch the Universal Monsters films.
