  2. Thread's been kinda quiet recently, anyone watching anything good this weekend? I have The Fly II, The Sacrament, Man Bites Dog, and Swarm on my list. Also going to start rewatching Ash vs. Evil Dead, I think.

Caught up on Megan, Cocaine Bear and Knock at the Cabin. Megan was a blast and I’m excited to see where the franchise goes. I enjoyed Knock at the Cabin a ton. It was nice to see Bautista in a dramatic role and I loved the tension building throughout the movie. I was pretty disappointed with Cocaine Bear honest. It was one of those movies where the best parts were all in the trailer and I wish it leaned more into the horror Comedy instead of not knowing what it wanted to be. It’s been an insane start to the year for horror for months that are usually relatively quiet for movies.

  5. I watched the South Korean movie Bedevilled recently but didn't know how to talk about it because it has some pretty upsetting stuff in it.

I also watched Thirteen Ghosts (sorry... Thir13en Ghosts lol) for the first time. Fun premise, amazing production design and makeup, disappointing movie overall.

What should we watch tonight that’s streaming on something?

I’ve watched many of my favorites so many times over that I think I’ve lost steam on horror in the past year or so. I feel like I see roughly 10-15 new horror movies a year and maybe if I’m lucky, 2-3 of them stick.

I’m actually most excited currently for a Scream VI re-watch lol.

  8. Green Room and The Monster are on HBO Max, Maniac Cop is on Tubi

  9. I believe Knock at the Cabin is on Peacock today as well?

Dunno what I’m watching tonight. Not horror, but maybe the John Wick trilogy for the first time

Okay.. halfway into Cocaine Bear. Margo Martindale is fucking outrageously funny and this movie is hitting all the right notes.

I've only seen Dead Meat's kill count video on it. Looks like a fun enough time. As for things I want to watch this weekend, I still plan to watch The Monster. Not sure about anything else yet haha

  17. Kate Lyn Sheil randomly showed up on an ep of Swarm. Always nice to see her in things.

Also second the recommendation of Green Room and The Monster. 2016 might be A24's best year overall. They put out so many great movies that year.

  18. Did The Sacrament, The Fly II, and Benny Loves You over the past couple nights. The Sacrament was not as good as I remembered; I think some of that Swanberg mumblecore stuff may have not aged the best.

The Fly II, while pretty much bastardizing Cronenberg's adaptation, is surprisingly good, especially when it goes off the rails in the final act. Insane effects work. Benny Loves you was fun for the most part, but def went on a bit long for its premise.

  21. For anyone who like's video essays/analyses, I highly recommend Spikima. Though he doesn't discuss horror movies exclusively, a lot of his videos focus on horror. His latest one about the Korean zombie genre is great.

  22. So I've been working with our local horror festival for the past few weeks in an email/newsletter capacity, but after meeting with our marketing person, it looks like I'm going to be interviewing some industry folks for the festival :) she told me to put together a dream list because their reach is probably a bit better than I anticipated. Any favorite interviewees in here? My mind immediately went to queer newcomers Kyle Edward Ball and Jane Schoenbrun, but I'm looking for recommendations beyond directors. Screenwriters, vfx people, etc!
