Here's an idea, rewrite the premise of a horror film to make it sound like something else.

After a tragedy, a young girl taken in by a close relative finds unexpected companionship in something not quite human. M3gan, or Lilo and Stitch?

 

Perfect Blue is was so good, wow. Does dream logic better than any Lynch I've ever seen for my money. Then again, I'm watching Eraserhead now to confirm

 

I need to watch both of these films

 

Wish I got the trailer for Evil Dead Rise, would have been so nice to see that on the big screen. I got trailers for Cocaine Bear and Knock at the Cabin

 

The Knock at the Cabin trailer I got gave away so much, I was peeved.

I didn’t get a single horror trailer before M3GAN! I was hopping mad.

I got the new Nolan movie and 65. Those are the only 2 I remember.

Perfect Blue literally blew my mind last year. So fantastic. Thankful for Shudder picking it up

Someone mentioned the former in a youtube video I watched. Supposed to be a pretty sad one I guess

 

Haven't heard of those two either. Pretty darn solid top five, though.

 

Wolf of Snow Hollow was so great. Loved it.

 

Megan was fun, needed a bigger set piece massacre type scene I think tho

 

Probably the only disappointing thing about M3gan for me is that after seeing Allison Williams in Get Out and especially The Perfection I wanted something a little more unhinged from her here. She did fine, though, and the actresses for Katie and for M3gan's voice were great.

Y'know, aside from the obvious "fun" elements of the movie, the perils of AI, I think it makes a serious attempt to portray/address its themes of grief, attachment, and exploitation, and I think that added complexity is commendable.

Also did someone say the boss talks weird? That's just how Ronny Chieng talks. Don't be racist.
